JACDAV
Hi. The other day I was showing of for some friends with a lilttle wheel spin, when I stopped I stepped on the clutch but there were no reaction and I had to kill the engine to put it into neutral?? I waited a while to cool the clutch ( RPS street max ) but with no success. When I drove home I had to start the car into a gear otherwise I could not shift, when I had driven a couple of km´s with the clutch down and accelerating up and down the clutch slipped it´s grip. Any ideas?? Is it the center bearing in the crankshaft?? Please help, I am a lilttle bit worried to drive the car, mabee the clutch or the tranny suddenly will explode with catastropy consequenses
pistonbroke
Slave cylinder has failed by the sound of it. I suggest you don't drive the car until you sort it.

Ian C
Maybe you heat welded the clutch to the flywheel? I think that can happen under some circumstances or I might have dreamt it
Chris Wilson
You have probably fused the sintered plate material to the flywheel and cover, Powerhouse Racing have something on this, if indeed this particular clutch of yours is sintered? I have had so much trouble with RPS clutches (ripping a new one out today that has serious issues) I have to say that I would never supply and fit, as I would be worried that it would be coming out again at my cost If it's not sintered the driven plate may have warped with the heat and now won't release fully. JACDAV
Thanks... It is a sintered clutch. I have driven it since the trouble occur and have no problems since. The clutch is working as it use to.
Chris Wilson
They do not like, nor are they designed to take many tyre smoking starts. The only truly relaible drag race clutches that also work well on the road are proper carbon / carbon ones from the likes of AP and Tilton. Sintered plates will not stand the heat of multiple slips, and as you have found, will fuse together.

Chris Wilson
In fairness some people seem to have no trouble, but at least if the customer supplies it and I just fit *HE* eats the labour cost if the clutch goes faulty
Terminator
I guess as for most parts, life expectancy is down to how the part is used.
