carl0s
I'm selling a Cisco WS-C3550-12G switch on eBay. I've been contacted by a guy..: Dear cssnetworks, Hi, please send me your bottom price. I want to buy this item. Your quick reply will be appreciate. I'm living in Milano, Italy. Best regards! fleamarket30 His eBay profile says he lives in the United States, also I can't see any networking gear in his feedback. It's all cheap clothes! The Repy-address on his email and in his eBay profile is [email protected]. I have contacted people through his feedback profile and one of the people I have spoken to tells me they shipped to him in Louisiana, and that his email address was [email protected], like a week ago. I have just received this from the guy: Hi, The price of GBP 4900 for both is ok.I want also to ask if it's possible for you to accept a secure third party company for this deal. I want to use the Ebay transactions office service for a safe and secure deal for both parts,I'll pay the ebay fees for this transaction . I'll send the money at ebay transactions, when they received the money they will contact you with the transaction info. After you are assured that the item has been paid, you will send me the package . After package is sent you will receive the money from ebay in your currency by wire transfers, checks, money orders. Thank you. to which I have replied: Please give me the url (website address) for the “ebay transactions office service” and I will see what I think. What do ya'all think? It all sounds a bit fishy to me! I have sent an email to the yahoo.com addess but had no response yet.

SimonB
Sounds like the classic "third party owes me so I will get them to send you a cheque for X and you can send me a cheque for the difference" scam. The payment will appear to clear and then turn out to be stolen a couple of weeks afterwards. You will then lose your goods plus the money you sent. Anything that begins with a generic "I want to buy this item send me your lowest price" is a scam for sure.

SCAM! I'll give it a bit longer for the owner of the account to reply to me, then i'll report to eBay.

carl0s
say Hi to the eBay people Report problems with other eBay members > Fraud concerns for sellers > The problem you're having with fraud isn't listed Member or Item being reported: fleamarket30 Message: please see http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=40044 where I have explained the situation in full. I suspect the account fleamarket30 has been hacked and is being used to scam sellers via the use of a fraudulent Escrow service which he calls "eBay transactions office services".
