Josh
Thanks for the link thats a really usefull website , its .com by the way No problem. When I'm bored at work I just type in a destination and read through mainly the scams and 'Tourist Traps' section as they're pretty interesting Oh yeah .co.uk goes to a web domain that's for sale. Oops. In answer to the original question I've not been there but would be interested in going to China/Japan. I'll come with you!
AJI
I spent the best part of a year living in China. I found it to be a total 'eye opener' for me. I was expecting very reserved and repressed ways of life etc....you know, the usual anti-communist blurb that is preached in the west; but its actually nothing like that in the cities I visited. You have to accept that it is a vastly different culture and way of life etc... but this really adds to the atmosphere and feel of the country and its history. The only problem I had mainly was food...I am quite picky when it comes to food and if not for my Chinese girlfriend then I would have been stuck. Oh, and the language too. I did learn some basic touristy Chinese Mandarin before going over there and its always a good thing to do if you visit china. Even if you just pick up some basic numbers and things. Apart from that, if you like a change from western destinations then China is a real good choice.
loks
I travel to China daily for work but head back to normality in Hong Kong for the evenings Definitely as a place, it is a very diverse and most unique culture. People can be the friendliest possible (generally) to the some of the worst.... Places can be the most spectacularly beautiful to industrial durge. However it is a fantastic place to visit.
