MaveriK
I have been searching for a thread which i thought suggested soaking them in vinegar but cant find it as i am obviously useless. Basically they have a covering of rust due to lack of use. What would be the best product to use to clean them up? Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance personally - if there covered in rust - I'd bin them, especailly the chain, just not worth the hassle.
Konrad
Put them in vinegar for a night then use hard brush.
MaveriK
Just inspected the bottom end of the bike and its just rusted to hell so new bike it is. On the plus side i have not just spunked £50 on cleaning products but down side have to wedge out for a new one. Not going off road so what are my options? stevie_b
Not going off road so what are my options? It depends what type of riding you'll be doing. When you say you're not going off-road, do you mean you'll stick to tarmac'd roads, or will you cycling down tracks/bridleways/etc? I think hybrid bikes are a good choice. They have a similar look to a mountain bike but have thinner tyres to make easier progress on flat surfaces.
MaveriK
To start with roads but if i get into it who knows. Budget around £300 i guess
stevie_b
Wiggle is a good website, although you can't beat trying a new bike out in person. Hybrids: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/c/cycle/7/Hybrid_~_City_Bikes/ I wouldn't bother with suspension: it just soaks up pedalling effort in compressing the suspension dampers, and adds weight to the bike. Buy the lightest bike you can afford.
