RedM
We have finally gotten a new PC. They are bloody fast these days ain't they? Blimey! Anyway, this XP thingy is very different to 98 and I'm a bit stumped. With profiles, is it possible to have the same setting, software etc in all of them? One of my problems is that I set Firefox up while using my partners profile. It installed fine and I can use it on my profile too. I also set up all the bookmarks etc while in her profile but don't have them in mine. As Firefox only seems to import from IE I looked for the bookmark file and tried to copy it to the same place in my profile. It was in the Application Data folder in her profile but mine doesn't have that folder? Why? Do I need to install Firefox in my profile even though it's already there? Is there a good online site that deals with setting up profiles, how they work etc and written for numpties like me? Cheers.
MaveriK
Once a program is installed all people will have access to it unless you set it otherwise. Your profile will have all the folders that is setup in your partners, if you cant see certain folders its probably due to how the explorer is set up. From explorer select tools, the folder options. Click on the view button and scroll down the options until you see "Show hidden files and folders", select this. Once done you should be able to view all folders in both profiles (assuming you have created each user as administrator), now you can copy favorites and cookies from her profile to yours. I found XP at first was like typing with oven gloves (bring back 3.11 all is forgiven!) but now i am happy to work my way around it. As long as you dont get gungho in the control panel it is fairly bullet proof. Honest!!!
Pete
There are some FireFox plugins that allow you to synchronise your bookmarks between users/devices. For example you can synch your bookmarks at work with your home pc.

MaveriK
Humm, without getting on an XP machine a creating a new profile i cant check as and when what gets created. If you copy favorites and Cookies across at least you will have the internet files you will need.
