Chris Wilson
On my Skyline GTS-t (2WD), but shows what I do here: Dry build of my home made front brakes, need to do hoses and find some 12mm cap heads now.... Rear brackets and bells away being anodized, will send pics when done! Pics here
Alex
Very nice...should be more than enough for a light weight GTS-t...355mm?
Guest Terry S
Have those calipers got dust seals Chris??
Ian C
Love those marker-pen arrows -Ian
Chris Wilson
No dust seals, they are race calipers. Off a Porsche 962 Le Mans Group C car, just to add a bit of class The rear calipers are off an Aston Martin DB9 or something. Just what we had lying around doing nowt, with small pistons and radial mount. 356 mm x 32 mm thick, CP3581 AP discs I don't thick the arrows will last long.... What are you doing with the rears to keep the balance, bias adjuster?
Ian C
Custom built balancer valves I suspect, I recall you doing a trick setup like that for the RX? -Ian
Chris Wilson
Initially using an AP balance valve, may remove servo and convert to dual mater cylinder depending on pedal effort needed when testing. If the brakes are put away hot the lack of seals doesn't really affect things much, but it's a track car anyway, and will get little use on the road, except driving to tracks, and with luck, back again. It's now piped up with proper P clips on the hoses et cetera, and bled. Back brakes next week, as soon as stuff gets back from the platers. Fitted some 01 compound Performance Friction carbon metallic pads in endurance thickness and piped the calipers yesterday afternoon, so the fronts are now finished.Pics Here
Pete
Well if they don't stop you quick before entering a corner I don't know what will! Nice looking kit. Shame they don't stay that shiney isn't it?
Chris Wilson
They should do the job, especially as the 2wd Skyline is hugely lighter than the 4wd trucks. It's like race engine internal parts, sometimes it seems a shame to fit them into the depths on an engine, they look much nicer sat on the bench
Need4Speed
Are you going to be using slicks?
MONKEYmark
what sort of weight is gtr against the weight of your track car and have your stripped interior nice brakes
Chris Wilson
No slicks, Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. Monkey. Dunno without looking it up. When i get around to doing the geo, (a lot of parts to make first), I'll have the weights. Can't decide whether to gut it or not. If I do it will have a weld in cage in it. If i don't it will be road comfortable, but floppy....
Need4Speed
No slicks, Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. Keeping it road legal then?
Chris Wilson
Yes, definitely road legal, I want to have something i can drive to Oulton or Donington and just get in and go around for a few hours fun.
Need4Speed
Have you still got that Super Sports or whatever it was?
Chris Wilson
Yep, just going to put some new tyres on it for Oulton on Wednesday, I rebuilt engine and box over the winter and it's now run in and shaken down.
