bradleyh_15
check the technical section for the paper clip method!
Scott
The fact that you have changed the plugs would have me thinking a few things.... Too cold a plug, wrong gap in the plugs (unlikely), broken coil pack connector clips. My immediate guess would be the coil pack clips, they tend to get very brittle and can fall apart during a switch over.
DaveR
Maybe it's the coil pack rather than the plugs? Or maybe the plugs are the wrong ones? It's worth checking that everything's fitted correctly before flapping TOO much.

Scott
could oil got into the cylinder cause me problems? Only till you burned it out of there. Bit of blue smoke would see that gone
DaveR
could oil got into the cylinder cause me problems? I had that a while back. I forget exactly what the name of the seal was that had gone, but it turned out to be a 20 quid for parts and not-very-much for labour job to rectify. It was mainly in cylinder 6 with a little in cylinder 5.
supra steveo
what had happened is that the cam seal had gone so i replaced them and changed the plugs at the same time, ive cleaned everything and the revs are still hunting
supra steveo
the plugs ive got are the BKR5E ones with the V cut in them, according to the tech section they are already set at 1.1mm, so there the right plugs

supra steveo
Right guys in theory this engine shouldn't be running , I've changed no. 1 spark plug for one of the old ones and I've used the new one to see if any of the ht leads are making the plugs spark and so far I've checked no. 1,2,5 and 6 I've not seen a spark from any of these leads I've even changed the plug to see if it was the plug and nothing

It needs to be touching the head or something metal you know? Just to be sure, grab hold of the end of the plug lead and have the mrs crank it over! If it revs fine / drives fine, just struggling to idle I would ignore plugs / leads. Focus more on idle control valve, throttle cable / throttle position sensor. Definately give the ECU a reset by pulling the fuse to it for 30 secs.
Nic
Can you describe the symptoms in more detail, ie. does it start? Does it tick over? Does it rev properly? Is it firing on all cylinders (if it sounds like a 2CV when you try to rev it it won't be). Have you disconnected the battery? If so you will have reset the ECU. The ECU needs a few miles of driving to relearn, in this time the car can run a bit lumpy and not tickover properly.

supra steveo
i am going to disconect the battery for a few mins in a bit if thats seems to be a good idea will let you all know the outcome in figures few ...............wait out
Scott
The fact that it is clearing with a few revs would tell me that you are getting a weak spark. My money is on the coil pack clips. Long winded but what you could do is remove all the coilpacks & spark plugs and try them in pairs against an earth. Keep everything in position to see where the weak point is. supra steveo
Well looks like the intake is coming off again then coz 1,2,5and 6 seem ok
Scott
What a PITA, not realising you are in an N/A. Before putting it back together find out where the weak link in the chain is. Not worth all the hassle
Guest ugp
Well looks like the intake is coming off again then coz 1,2,5and 6 seem ok Being fed by a distributor theres only one coil, so why pull it apart again? As long as the plug leads are on and they all good plugs, my money is on electrical, tps etc
