Guigsy
i once viewed a townhouse which was on 4 floors. kitchen was in the basement. a small livingroom area and hallway on the ground floor. then there was a diningroom the next floor up with another small livingroom. nether livingroom was big enough to have more than a 2 person sofa in and you had to carry your dinner up 2 flights of narrow stairs. the bathroom on the other hand was by far the bigest room in the house. massive bath. seperate walk in wet room area... it was odd. ellis
I think they figure that town house dwellers spend every evening out in restaurants and swingers parties hence having no need for a kitchen.

jonathanc
I currently live in a town house My kitchen is fairly large, it takes up half of the first floor. I also can park 3+ cars in my car port Down side is that its a bitch to move furniture as my living room + bed room are all upstairs. Rob
Having living room and kitchen on the 1st floor gives you that extra dimension of defence, should there be a zombie attack.

aman00123
The town houses up the road from me have one bedroom on ground floor, kitchen on first, and rest of bedrooms on the top floor The one I'm in is 'normal' and room sizes are pretty decent too.... Can't generalise a town house, just depends on the builder and location really. If you're interested I'm in a Charles Church town house

Bobbeh
My mate has a town house in Bedford, sure its a lot of stairs, but its not a bad size/layout for a single person/couple. But that's the problem with today's new affordable housing, they just build rats nests and people end up living on top of each other. Arg. stevie_b
said house http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-29929916.html Looks very nice generally, although I agree that the kitchen looks cramped: I guess there's not much room behind the camera in the kitchen photo. I'm not a fan of narrow galley kitchens.

Affordable housing, as you say, that's the problem, when we have to make a special class of housing that's "affordable" because everything else isn't. To quote Stewart Lee.. The fox has his den. The bee has his hive. The stoat has his . . . stoat hole. But only man chooses to make his nest in an investment opportunity. ....A home is a basic requirement of life. Like food. far
careful buying townhouses mate, the resale tends to be slower due to the odd format, that said there is a market for them. Some are well proportioned albeit in a 'topsi-turvey' way Is that house a bit noisy with the windows open due to the proximaty of the M4? Another thing to consider when it comes to resale, sometimes you miss these things, especially when you view at non peak times.
