Another Lorry failing to see car.

Couldn't believe I saw this happen right in front of me today. I was on the way back from Stansted Airport after collecting my other half driving back into London off the M11 just past the toll booths. I was driving along in the 'fast' lane (furthest right) when I saw a HGV Lorry indicating to come across a lane (into the lane on my left) and as it started to switch lanes there was a gold Jaguar X-Type currently occupying that lane, which the driver failed to see.

Next thing I see is the lorry pull right over, clip the back of the jaguar (me being weary of the fact it may spin into me I planted it to avoid a further pile up). The Jaguar 'luckily' span across the lorry across the other two lanes (which were clear due to the toll booths) and ended up facing the correct way on the hard shoulder. It did look as if the driver noticed after and pulled into the hard shoulder to 'sort it out'. Luckily, it appeared noone was hurt. Was shocked to see it happen right in front of me especially at around 70mph

Could have been a lot worse if it was busier etc. Think some sort of safety feature needs to be applied for the 'blind spots' - Drive safe and be cautious.

Anytime I see erratic HGV drivers I slow up behind them and plant it past them. I know it isn't an easy job but one single lapse of concentration and you can kill a lot of people. I'll take the points if need be to be honest.

Most of them are on the ball but there are just so many of them on the roads nowadays. It just takes one that has skipped his break or who isn't concentrating to take you out.

Did you stop?

I was going to but he pulled over into the hard shoulder as I'm guessing he saw the tyre smoke or something. So he knew what he had done and was hopefully trying to rectify the matter.

If he had failed to stop and continued I would have pulled over as a witness and tried to capture as much details from the HGV as possible.

He would have needed you as a witness anyway. If I see an accident I always stop and offer to be a witness. I had to fight really hard last time I had a non fault accident as the other insurance company came up with all kinds of crap to muddy the water and not pay out. If I'd have had a witness I it would have been sorted in a quarter of the time.

I also had an accident when I was seventeen where a guy pulled through a gap in the cars in a two lane stretch of road as people in the right hand lane waited to go straight on through some lights, my filter arrow for turning left was on so I carried on down the side of the waiting cars and hit the guy side on. It was his fault but a woman had flashed him through the gap not taking my lane into consideration. She then said she'd be his witness as it was all my fault as I must have been going too fast. (I was actually doing about 25 coming towards a 90 degree corner....) She didn't even see me but came to that conclusion as the accident was caused by her and must have felt guilty..!!

Luckily a passer by stopped and gave the two liars a bollocking and said it couldn't possibly been my fault and that they were ganging up on me as I was only young..!!

That was my first car and I was only TPFT, if it wasn't for that witness I would have lost my car and had a claim agianst me at 17......

Always stop..!!
