Swampy442
Whats your opinions? Anybody owned one? Ive been offered a 6 speed manual twin turbo, UK car for a price I cant turn down, with the sole intention of turning it round, MOT and sell. I know the obvious stuff like transfer box, clutch but is there anything else I should look for? TIA
j_jza80
Apparently the ECUs eat themselves, and they're quite slow due to weight. Quite good looking cars though IMO
Scott
For a turnover they should be OK. I love the look of them and drooled over them years ago. Got to reading about them and it wasn't all good, you can't spit down the engine bay and everything is awkward to work on. Not the ideal car to have as a hobbyist. As I said though, for a turnover top quality cars make top dollar. If the gearbox and transfer box feels good I would go for it.
creativename
Iv had 2, both import TT's. Both mine had problems with the gearbox grating, when going into 3rd iirc. They can be very bad for creaky interior panels. If it's been lowered it may have caused the light for the active suspension to stay on. I never saw any signs of any rust. They are the same as Supra's in terms of the UK being a better spec. IIRC the ecu problem is something to do with a capacitor in it, it can be a reasonably easy and cheapish fix, I might be wrong but I thought it was just imports that suffered. Swampy442
It is very cheap, I reckon I could still turn a tidy profit but dont want to be stuck with it.... Ill do some thinking, cheers again all
creativename
Just make sure it is cheap, as they have gone down to stupid money. I saw an MR for £4k the other week

SteveC
The local Mitsubishi dealer's mechanic told me they're nothing but trouble and he wouldn't have one given. I think that sums them up really. Tread carefully! Edit: just spotted this thread is about 3 weeks old. Did you buy the GTO? Swampy442
No mate I didnt. Quoted from ClubAristo -: "-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, had a closer inspection today, not good. Needs a front shock or 2, cam belt tensioner isnt happy, active aero system isnt working, top end rattle (might be the oil) engine warning light is on, battery is shot, back brakes shot, exhaust blowing etc etc etc"

One I went to look at many years ago had top end rattle; apparently it's quite a common problem on GTOs.
Guest Suprastar2009
Hello mate I worked for a Mitsubishi dealer up until beginning of this year, if you want my opinion stay well clear, unusually for a Japanese car they are very unreliable and very tempremental, when they work theyre good but it wont be for long, the amount of customers that poured money into having them fixed and repaired only to be back a week/ 2 weeks later with something new wrong.
