jonathanc
I am having some problems syncing my Desire using HTC Sync. It worked first time but after that the phone won't detect HTC Sync on my PC even though its there! Device manager is Windows can "see" HTC Desire though (I have the My HTC icon) but nothing happens. I did have some errors with the drivers and reinstalled now no more "!" marks in Device Manager but can't manage to sync my phone + PC My O/S is 64bit Windows 7. I did a lot of Googling but can't seem to find a good answer at the moment... I am wondering if anyone can help out as this is driving me insane! JustGav
Have you installed the correct USB drivers... They can be fiddly sometimes, as windows has a habit of installing it's own. I've got them if you want them, otherwise grab the android SDK which includes the latest USB drivers.
jonathanc
Hmm, I've downloaded the last HTC Sync and there's drivers under C:\Program files(x86)\HTC Sync\Drivers\win64drivers(or something like that). I've tried pointing windows to that folder and reinstalled the drivers. One thing interesting is that I can mount the Hard disk( Sd card ) fine so the USB must be working. I just can't get the phone to fine HTC Sync. In other words, all functions work (incl. usb charging) except for HTC Sync Did I get the correct drivers though? My phone doesn't come with SD card so the "install HTC Sync from SD Card" option doesn't apply to me. I suspect it's because I am using 64 bit os as I have problems getting iTunes to "see" my iTouch as well.
JustGav
The way it mounts it as USB storage is different, as it offers itself up as a standard USB drive rather than anything fancy. Go into control panel and click update driver and force it to use the HTC drivers, I had similar hassles but I'm running a development Android 2.2 OS so had to do some fiddling. That didnt seem to work well, I just dont get the "!" errors in Device manager anymore but HTC Sync still doesn't work. Rather annoying as it worked once or twice but then stopped working. I could be using the wrong drivers though? I got mine here : http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=312&cat=3&dl_id=
Konrad
Did you try to switch phone off and on again?
jonathanc
I did mate... but I will try again. I'm almost 100% sure it has something to do with my O/S. I've now tried using Google Calendars (and in the future Google Contacts too) and it's great for the time being! I can even sync World Cup matches to my Google Calendar which in turn syncs to my Desire Never miss a match
paulrenn
Dude, did you select sync type as "HTC Sync" in the settings? On HTC Tattoo, it is in Settings, Connect to PC, Default Connection Type. Without that, it might try to just connect as a memory card or similar.

It works one time then no joy I've switched to using Google for contacts and calendar sync for the moment. Pretty sure it's because of my 64 bit O/S. I had some problems with my iTouch as well.
