SKP Repair Dundee

If anyone of you ever have a problem with one of your gaming consoles, please for heavens sake, DO NOT send it to the clueless bunch of cowboys.

A month or two back my PS3 developed the YLOD, now my console is like my life support machine, so I wanted it fixed asap, so after a quick google, I opted to send it to them, as they were fairly local, and rather well priced too. Big mistake.

So a few days later, I recieved an email saying my console was now repaired, and that I owed them £55, including postage back, so I duly paid, wentout and bought the new UFC game and waited. A few days pass and finally it arrives back, I take it out of the box, wire it up and turn it on.........."fantastic I'm back in business" I thought, so I opened up the new game slide it into the bluray drive and crunch.

A horrible nasty grinding noise from the drive :wtf: This wasn't there before I sent it, but I was thinking that maybe it has been caused in the posting system, or maybe it was something simple such as somehting not connected back up properly........£65 later I have a new bluray drive fitted and the console back.

Here is were it gets really annoying. I recieved the console back last Wednesday, fully operational, So I spent most of tht night on MW2, I never got a chance to get back online till the Saturday. I had the system on for 5 mins when it shut down with the YLOD again!

So rather p!ssed off, I boxed it up, put in the warranty form, and posted it away. Now today I've just recieved an Email requesting another £55. and a message saying that 'All warranty stickers have been removed, warranty is void, Photographic evidence logged'

I'm totally fooked offf to say the least, As I'm 100% sure the stickers were intact when I boxed it up.

I'm at a loss to where I stand now as well, as it's basically my word against his that the stickers were removed or not. Any advise would be appreciated. Do I just pay the £55 and hope that is the end of the matter?

Anyway here's what I sent the clowns.

I've just recieved an email from you requesting a further £55, as apparently all warranty stickers had been removed, despite the fact that both stickers were fully intact at the time of posting.

To say I am sickened is an understatement.

I sent my item ps3 to you with the yellow light fault originally. I recieved the console back, with a knackered blu ray drive, that was fully operational when I had sent it. Now, to be clear I am not placing fault on yourselfs, as it is possible either My courior (Royal Mail) or you courior could have contributed to this whilst the console was in transit, so rather than kick up a fuss, I dished out a further £65, in the hope that I would be back in action asap.

However I recieved the console back last Wednesday, I racked up around 2-3 hours of gameplay and bang, the yellow light fault again, and thus here we are.

I find it absolutely shocking that I'm basically being accused of tampering with the machine, and being charged £55 for the pleasure of it.

I can't say I will be recommending yor services to anyone, and I most likely will be posting my expercience here on the multiple forums that I frequent.

I'd very much like someone to contact me tomorrow on ***********, I can sort payment out over the phone and that will be the end of it as far as I'm concerned. I am very dissapointed by these events, but I see no other way of venting my frustrations.

Dear Ian,

I am sorry you are so angry. Have you considered letting christ into your

life?.

Our lord will show you the true happiness my friend to letting go of hatred

and pent up feelings of confusion. A tremendous sense of connnection with

the world you may have been missing can be reached simply by letting your

heart open to Jesus. Silly childhood toys such your xbox will then seem

laughable once you know what life is really about. Sure sitting on your own

with a toy seems like life right now. But with a Christ in your life, your

eyes will be open and you will see what life has to offer in all its

splender.

Or check out Budha he's alright and that.

Regards and love skp

Lol, epic responce.

I bought it the day it came out mate, so 3/4 years ? I doubt Sony would entertain me tbh.

I'm tempted to just pay the £55 just to get my console back, I'm now over £200 out of pocket and no better off, in hindsight I'd have been better off just buying a new one.

Ditto, I had a launch 60gb :)

I'd say you could still take them to trading standards tbh.

That will teach me to keep hold of receipts :(

How would that work if I was do go down the trading standards route? Should I pay for the console to be returned just now or what?

It's something that I have never done.

I don't think the HDD swap is straight forward Gar. I can't be sure as I haven't tried but I don't think they could do the swapperoo easily.

They are just doing the oven technique to fix the RROD and the YLOD, bunch of cowboys.

Told you they were VERY cheap Harry ;)

Should have took your serial number as a precaution mate, you never now with these people if they are sending yours back to you.

I never thought mate, was in too much of a rush to get it out and sent back. It has got me thinking though, the robbing coonts are probably sending back other units.

If I knew how to work the cooker/oven downstairs I'd have done it myself mate, but knowing me I'd forget about it and wreck the oven and the station in the one go :)

saying that though I had this problem with my ps3 and it was 2 years over warranty, all I did was let sam talk to them after a few minutes of yelling they did a 24hr swap with a new console and gave me a extra years warranty all for free.

Little bit of an update, I recieved this email in response to the one sent above.

Hi James, your console has not been worked on and no one has requested further payment.

I have this machine sitting in front of me now and there are 3 broken seals on the console, the one at the back has been completely removed, and the lid locking screw has also been removed. James, it's very obvious that someone has been having a poke around in here. Those seals are put there to detect tampering and protect us from scammers, if the seals are broken then you warranty is void - the very same is true with Sony themselves. We unpacked this the other day in this condition and it was logged on the ticket at the time.

If you feel that this is unjust you will have to take legal action. We have all the evidence of tampering here and the email logged. We will also monitor the internet forums and keep printouts of threads in the event of defamation - you are not the first person to try and scam us.

We will also have to arrange returning the console to you.

As you can see, great customer service. I've never scammed anyone in my life, so for some yokels to tag me with that, it really P!sses me off, plus the fact I don't have the knowledge or the tools to even open one of these things up.

I have requested my unit back, as I wouldn't let these clowns near my Gameboy, never mind my PS3. IF anyone can recommend a competant company for repairing consoles I would be greatfull.

I bit the bullet and went out today and bought the 250gb slim, going to stick the reciept on the fridge this time round.

Bunch of Fuds

I say we take a trip up there and see what they have to say face to face its a whole new ball game when your standing on front of someone who like me aint a exactly small.

The fact that you said, the seals aint been broken is strange, I mean what consumer ever looks at the Warranty/void seals??

Who's to say they ever put any on?? Id be taking this to the Trading Standards mate, as its there job to Investigate all matters, when they ca.

You can post anything you like about your dealings with them as its there reputation that on the line, and as Forums tend to weed out all crap traders, the real monkeys wil get found out Eventually.

And there Business goes down the Pan.

P.s if there ready this, then im quite happy to take a little Road trip up with you, and make then fix it there and then. :D

Thanks for the offer mate, but I don't want them anywhere near my console now, thats 3 times Ive sent it to them, each time costinga minimum of 65 quid.

Besides I've already paid again to have it sent back, hopefully I'll find a company worth their salt.

I'm waiting till the console is returned before going down the legal route.
