my dad did upto the point of being a trainer himself.

I learnt alot from watching him and when I started to drive my instructor could tell I had picked up some points from him!

In my opinion they dont tell you to drive like a tw*t but to use the road effectively and be aware of what is happening around and in front of you.

Whats proper driver training then? Something like C.A.T?

He started off by getting some instruction on track.

I think it could just have been his instructor, but he came away less than impressed with what they were saying.

I did the training in 2000 and took the test - passed. It was very good experience - 10 'lessons' with an ex-police driver and a nreve wracking test - I was far more nervous doing that one then my original test when I was 17!. Opened my eyes a little as to my observation skills and other aspects of my driving. I'd highly recommend it - can't do any harm can it?

Load of rubbish, the main people you see with the badge or sticker on their cars are old buggers with little or no appreciation of traffic around them. Most are clearly a danger on the roads yet they are members :D

Oh! Well, that's me nicely pigeon-holed then! :p

I'm off to wet myself on a Shakletons High Seat and eat Werthers
