They might sell 5 at that price. I dunno why they don't lower the price and sell 5000 of them and still cover costs over the long run. I'm sure plenty of people would pay 80k for one :D

they charge that much because it is 'hand built' and as such exclusive. For 80k you can get a Beacham E Type which has the looks with modern reliable Jaguar running gear, see here http://www.beacham-jaguar.co.nz/

That GTR is just madness! I love it! :D

I hire a RR Phantom for my wedding to take me from London to Leicester & back again. I think that has the W12 engine with twin turbo's! I can only imagine how effortless that V16 must be! They don't even have a rev meter, instead a power reserve! Without a doubt, the finest engineering in the world! :)

:eyebrows:As RR is owned by BMW I dont think they would use an VW/Audi (who only own Bentley) engine - do you? IIAC they use the 6.0L V12 from the 760i saloon in the Phantom:rolleyes: :D

Good point! That power was so effortless, It felt like the W12 engine!

I feel cheated now, knowing that! :D

I wonder how much of that GTR time was due to the new stig....

Strangely enough it looked quite good in blue and seems to be growing on me. Having said that they are huge, make the supra look like a small hatchback in comparison.

I was very impressed by the GTR. it seems to me the only complaint is the usual "not a drivers car". I have said this before that this statement is often used to justify vastly more expensive cars which either have a similar performance or worse.

I was reading some threads on pistonheads where there were porker fanatics saying the GTR was not that great as it was .3 sec slower 0-60 than the new 911 turbo S. What they failed to appreciate was that they are paying almost £50,000 for .3 sec!!! Also I think the GTR has much better handling and looks. Porsche seem incapable of designing cars, their stuck with the VW beetle look and don't seem able to escape. I mean how many times have you seen a Porsche, regardless of model, in your rear view mirror and had to think hard as to what model it is!?

Yes the GTR is big, but in all honesty it's very easy to drive and judge, unlike the Aston where you need to sit on the roof to the front.

As for PorscheS... It depends on the model, as they mostly compare the one with ceramic brakes, which believe is a very expensive extra!

Agree - 0-60s times are hardly a gauge of the true performance of the car. I used to find the 911's inspiring, now I find them fairly boring and common.
