Unauthorised Vet Charges.....

A little while ago, our cat had an accident and mangled his leg somehow (still baffled on how he did it) :(

He got all fixed up at the vet but they needed to keep him overnight which we agreed to pay for (treatment and boarding - we made sure that this was clear at the time) however during his overnight stay he developed a slight wheeze. Now apparently "they could not get hold of us" (although no voicemails were left etc) so they decided to take upon themselves to do a number of x-rays and administer some drugs to investigate this new "problem".

Now we paid for the original bill upfront (to the tune of a grand) and now they are asking for more money for the work they did which we didn’t know about or ever authorised?

Where do I stand legally with this new bill?:search:

Do i have the right of not to pay it as this was unauthorised work?

Surely they can't just do this without your approval. How can they prove they done all that? For all you know they never done half of what they said.

I'm sure someone more helpfull will be along soon, but if you never told them to do the work then they had no right to do it.

Hope you get this sorted mate. Vet bills are a joke, ive just spent over £200 in the last two weeks and my dog still aint better. They keep sticking jags in and giving me more pills for him.

They phoned me today telling me i have to take him to the vet school in Bearsden next week where it will cost me another £150 just to look at him and more if the need to do work on him.

All this because he has a dodgy arse. Im starting to get a dodgy arse with the beating they are giving it. Think the insurance might get a wee call tomorrow.

My friend had a dog with an arse problem, they had to get his anal glands emptied.

(Basically, the Vet had to finger the dogs arse for £X amount)

Then they suggested that he have the snip, as it will fix it £X

Then his arse got worse and it required an operation, which if i recall was just over £1000.

Two weeks later he died of an infection.

Cats FTW.

Cheers thats cheered me right up:d . His glands are empty but his prostrate is inflamed and i was thinking about getting his gentlemans vegetables removed. He is finding it hard to push poop out, sometimes you need to help by squeezing either side of the sherriffs badge. Must look as if i have a dogs arse fetish when im out walking him. I hope its an easy fix.

BPU him once your done, you should see good gains, make sure you use a good restrictor ring, because otherwise he will overboost.

Ps, the time frame was quite long between ball-lopping and anus death, I kind of shortened it so that it was easier to digest, you know, like them iPhone adverts :sly:

I hate vets, licence to print money IMO....

The sooner my dog kicks the bucket the better, I'll never have any pets again except for fish as when they die you can just flush them down the bog and it costs you nothing.

I actually love dogs but keeping a 14 year old shit machine that molts all over my wooden floor and kills my lawn with his dodgy kidneys is a bit too much for me at the moment.....

It would be nice to hire one for an hour and then give it back when you are bored.....

A small update.

Took Basil to the animal hospital in Bearden today as my local vet referred him up there. As soon as i got in i was charged £153 to see a consultant

When i got in he checked him out and couldnt find anything obvious so started talking about further treatment (oh joy). He said he will need to be kept in for 2-3 days to get blood tests,an ultrasound a camera up his ring and a biopsy (sp) and other bits and pieces. Then he started talking figures!

My arse is in tatters! He said its costing around the 2k mark! Cant wait th hear what the Petplan call centre have to say.

So thats my boy in the most expensive dog hotel ever, the house is quiet.

I have been very lucky with our 2 cats so far (they are about 2 years old), but with talk of four figure bills, I am getting health insurance for them straight away!

It all sounds bloody criminal to me, ok its skilled work, but 2k wtf?

I know mate a bit OTT i think. Just want my boy better again.
