Supralad
Hi all, Soon to be new supra owner after getting some stupid insurance quote from Admiral. Im looking to spend around £8 grand on a Supra 6 speed manual. Im going to look at the below car tomorrow evening and have no clue on what bits i should be looking out for to make sure the car isnt a sh*t heap and i get conned! So if anyone could spare a few mins for me and tell me how i go about making sure the car isnt going to die and fall apart after 50 miles. Also is the below link good value for money? It seems to be the lowest milage/most standard for the cheapest price ive seen so far. (this just makes me think there is a problem with it) http://pistonheads.com/sales/1809497.htm Cheers for you time. AndyB
bradleyh_15
as its a 1jz conversion it might be worth dropping a member called little num a PM and ask him for some pointers on the quality of the conversion! Also welcome!

Guest Budz86
Welcome mate, it's worth looking at the links Scott has posted, they are a brilliant introduction to the Supra. Also, it might be worth asking the seller why they have changed the engine and who did the conversion work
dcarrter21
its running a gearbox made of chocolate aswell. not worth the money in my opinion + the hp claims seem nowhere near

scotty71
why look at a 2.5ltr 1jz conversion when the budget you have can get a very very good 3ltr 2jz TT or maybe a small single?? Sorry..... Welcome and good luck with any purchase... Print out and take with you the "what to look for when buying a Supra" pdf or contact a local Essex member and see if they would go with you to view any possible purchase. It can be costly if you dont know what your looking for and a Supra is definately not a buy on looks car Edited June 21, 2010 by scotty71 (see edit history)
Supralad
Cheers for the info above. Will look into scottc's links and will start lookin fresh from there. Ull probably find another thread 'is this car worth the money' soon thanks again
JamieP
Looks pricey to me for a na with a soarer engine, far better to get an original car, should find a decent TT6 in yout budget, failing that get a auto and convert to manual.

Supralad
is it difficult to convert from auto to manual? i thought these cars were costly to change things like that due to their age. so what do you suggest i look for? If you guys are saying the 'TT6' is that the RZ engine? (i am reading the manuals u posted above but a little extra info wudnt hurt ) also is milage a big problem? ive always gone for lower milage cars, costing me a little more, but ive heard supra engines are pretty good. What kind of milage should i be lookin for with a £8/9k budget? Around 60k ? Edited June 21, 2010 by Supralad (see edit history)
