Gordon F
I may be in the market for another vehicle for work (yes I may have a job at last!). Whats the best make for very high miles/annum and best fuel consumption? Yep - my congrats as well I live 45 miles from work and have recently sold my Peugeot 106 diesel at 130,000 miles (bought with 24K miles) at approx 65 mpg, and replaced it with a Focus TDCi (nice, quick and comfy, with a cd player and air con!) Fifty
I am a wuss, a poor one lol I used to do 100/day in the sup but now I dont want to pile the miles on at that rate every day. I might of course HAVE to use her 2 days/week. I just want something thatll do 50 mpg + and that I can throw away after 2 years so Peugot 106 is probably a good one? Darren
I use a 106 diesel for work, best thing i ever did getting it. Cheap to buy and run. Make sure you get one with PAS though they are a bitch without it!!!
MARTIN R
Something Japanese so it won't break down. Micra? Corolla? Probably a great shout /\ I also hammered a Seat ibiza ( VW engine), did some serious miles never let me down. A used on S or T plate would be very good value. Hope the job is yours mate

RobSheffield
i had a VW polo diesel, never let me down, never paid owt out on it, did on average 65 MPG....reliablility of the VW, coupled with a frugal motor....and some toys too if you get the CL version
Craig David
Xantia TD? Very cheap, surprisingly reliable (that suspension can be repaied cheaply if necessary). And if I was doing all those miles, I'd like something not too small. Quite nice to drive too!
Fifty
Some good suggestions there. Far - a picture says a thousand words lol

Aerotop Dave
OOh yea I used to have a Corolla in Kenya built in Mombasa, tough car but not very stylish But what's more important for the everyday car? Style, or get-me-from-A-to-B -ness? You've got the Supra for all the style, speed and power requirements
Chiefgroover
I use an Avensis 1.8 for this. Smooth, quiet, reliable, sunroof, a/c, all electrics, and 40 mpg when you dont labour it or rev it hard. Go for a GLS model and a 98 or 99 with 60K miles will cost you about £3K for a good one. When test driving, it should drive like new, otherwise miss it. Just change the ALL fluids regular and stick with genuine service stuff and you cant really go wrong.
Fifty
LOL I just realised the style I was on about was 20 years ago. I must resist you are right this has to be a fuel efficient transporter only. Avensis looks like another good one ta!
