Attero
I want to know if anyone can provide any clues as to what may be going on. This has happened with 3 partners (within the last 5 years) I have been with where when I'm asleep I get very defensive and scared during my sleep causing me to actually cause harm and start shouting very loudly without knowing about it. I tend to wake up when the person I'm with, hits me in the face. It happened for the third time last night sleeping in my tent at the festival. Embarrassing as it seems, I was shouting for help and trying to kick my girlfriend away. I don't realise I am doing it despite my eyes being open, and I retain consciousness only to find whoever I'm with rather confused. And what's stranger is, I normally remember it after. So it seems like I have no control over it. Is it something I should get checked or is this going to be a normal psychological state of mind that affects me on rare occassions? Edit: One more thing, I don't ever remember dreaming anything. It only seems to occur when im close contact with someone in the same bed. Attero
Think I may have found a word for it. Panic Attacks. During my sleep and in a state that I cannot regain consciousness. It's the strangest thing I've ever been through. I have to reason to panic really.

Attero
I don't think it's serious enough in all honesty to go to the doctors. I mean it's happened 3 times in the last 5 years. If it got a lot more frequent, then I would start to be more concerned. I think it could be down to the fact I like my own space and when I'm asleep I expect my own space. When I expect it too much, my body just imagines that I'm on my own, meaning when I'm in the unconscious state I have no idea of my surrounding environment causing me to go skitz and have a panic attack when I come in contact with another person. maybe you was ass rape as a childlol Fortunately, I was not ass raped as a kid... and I've never had any traumatising experiences. nick_karkie
There was a programme about it on tv a few years back, it is very common, people were threatening their partners with knives while they were a sleep, it is a form of sleepwalking but obviously more serious. I cant remember how they went about improving the condition.
creative
night terrors? an ex of mine used to be like that. sometimes I had to physically restrain her until she "woke" up. She had no idea she was doing it and her eyes were open etc etc. the first I knew she was having one was usually due to a punch to the head!
