michael
I have to say I'm getting rather a lot of amusement from the hysteria around some sensible decisions to limit the display of flags where they could cause safety issues. I'm getting even more laughs from the subsequent rumours and myths that are being passed around by red top newspapers and in particular Facebook groups that I'm ashamed to say some of my friends seem keen to join. However this one is a winner, not only for the "FALG" and use of capitals but for the way so many people have joined up just to poke fun on the wall. Maybe it's just something I find funny but I thought I'd share it anyway... http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=122717734428753 On a related note, how many of you have flags on your cars? Scott
When visiting England I often see a lot of cars on the motorways driving around with the England flag sticking out. I always found it strange during non-football seasons.

JustGav
We did 'vandalize' the neighbours flag with masking tape and write scotland on it Must dig out the pic.

AndrewOW
Ban them all IMO! I just hate it, and the falgs on stupid cars just seem to slow them down, so I suppose that's a good thing Once we're out I can start enjoying the tournament proper
Scott
you got to admit though, the Scottish do love their flag and happily stick it on their cars and anything else they can fine. Oh definitely mate. I have the Scotland flag on my registration plate. What I don't understand is flying little flags out of the car when there is no footy on. I've never done that and I never will. I have however had my team scarf hanging out of the car on the way back from the match after a victory. Real hell raiser me The amount of flags, towels, etc on holiday is just a joke too. michael
It's "falg" - get it right please. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3009237/Cross-country-over-England-flag-ban.html The above pic doesn't back this claim up but why do you see more flags as you get further into more "up and coming" areas of the town compared with the "nicer" parts? The Welsh love to display flags and dragons too but you get the sense it's more about being proud of Wales rather than just liking football once in a while. Kirk
If they dont like the england flag then id be more than happy to help them pack there things! This is our country... NO SURRENDER!
imi
Dont personally have an issue with the flag being on display be it England, UK, EU or whatever. I have a flag on my number plate. I do find the flags that stick out of the car rather silly though, especially more than 2 on a car .......9/10 driven by what look like chavs, so perhaps not that surprising after all - they do have a lot to be thankful for being the taxpayer that support them . Ewen
Our Tower Park factory car park is awash with flag festooned cars. Between two and six flags proudly erect on approximately 40% of them. Why no Italian flags though ? Only fair surely.
Ricky49
you got to admit though, the Scottish do love their flag and happily stick it on their cars and anything else they can find. Scott
Thats because they dont get to many football tournaments Can I be the first to point out that this is exactly what most of the people in this thread are getting at. 1 Get over yourself, you'll be stuffed soon enough. 2 Take some pride in your country that relates to ANYTHING other than football. 3 If you wish to display some national pride do so without singing "Engerland, Engerland, Engerland, Engerland" at every opportunity, in every hotel/pub/street/lane in the World. Come see a Scotland match and you will see the best atmosphere in your life.. win, lose or draw. Club football up here is a massacre. National football is an absolute dream. Ian C
I saw an estate car on the way home tonight with six falgs on it. I fail to understand the mentality. Perhaps the more flags you have the more englandery you are? Do these people wear a watch on each limb, thus making their perception of the current time four times better than yours? Still, yellow and black = natures' way of saying "danger". Multiple england flags = natures' way of saying "berk" I despise football, I'd put german flags on my car as a but I know it'd get vandalised by the knuckle draggers. stevie_b
I like the falgs on display: they amuse me. I regard them a bit like pets: other people's are nice, but I wouldn't want my own. That Facebook group that Michael linked to is dire (again, in an amusing way). Whilst reading it I couldn't shift the image of a 20- or 30-something male who's had one pint of wife-beater too many, and is starting to get a bit shouty and lairy. It reminds me of a particular track by The Streets (basically a weed-smoking guy having a "debate" with a half-cut aggresive bloke), I can't remember the title though.
