Today’s Senior TT has been red flagged – for the first time in its history – following what early reports say is a major incident involving Guy Martin.

The incident took place near Balleygary, the ultra-fast section between Union Mills and Glen Vine.

A bike is reported to be on fire and a fire engine has been dispatched, Guy Martin was air lifted to hospital from the scene concious but complaining of chest pain.

I really wonder how long this race can continue before it gets stopped on safety grounds. Its the ultimate test in my eyes and one of the oldest races in the world.

RIP Dobbsy, get well soon Guy.

I didnt even know about the second rider :(

RIP Martin.

Tony, I know, time will come when the TT, North West 200 etc will have to stop and I dread that day.

Its racing without equal, I absolutely love watching the onboard stuff, especially the sidecars. I really hope it can continue for a long time. The addition of helicopters and slo mo this year have given it a new dimension and a new level of admiration from me.

Some TT facts.

Senior TT, 4 laps, total distance 150 miles.

Highest average speed per lap 131.5mph

Highest max speed 192mph

Beats 26laps of a closed circuit anyday! If i could ride at half their pace i would be happy. Was the highest average speed put in by Mcguiness this year?

+2. I hope those races stay around for a long time. Unfortunately some of my first thoughts after reading about the fatalities were "This'll be stopped now" The H&S is becoming so ingrained in people now it's the first thing that comes to mind. :(

motorbikes+speed+ isle of man = DEATH!!!!!

Im glad your not doing the safety report!!!

Any sport that involves speed in a vehicle of some sort has the potential for fatalities formula 1, motto gp or the world rally its all the same when your numbers up its up. These guys know the risks all too well its their passion and to them its worth it for the buzz they get. Whether your on a track or closed road theres always the risk of a blow out suspension failure etc Isle of man is the only race of its kind that truely pushes the envelope of the bike and rider i hope the TT stays untouched. Even the motto gp riders have massive respect for these guys as do i.

They'll never stop the TT. It's a huge part of the Island life.

Every bike manufacturer who can A) Afford it and B) Want to show off their latest and greatest bikes will fall over themselves to get a bike into the TT because it is without doubt the greatest test you can put any machine through!

Here's a picture below of Guys bike after they finished with it:

I've lived on the Island for over 20 years and every year someone dies, I know it's not a nice thing to think about, but like was said above, these guys know exactly what they're signing up for and they push these machines to the absolute edge. Massive massive balls in my book!

Also, local lad Conor Cummins came off on the mountain during the senior leaving Ian Hutchinson wide open to take 5 wins in a week, the first time it's ever been done so well done to him :)

Conor had a few injuries to his arms and legs but seems to be ok.

Was anyone actually here for the TT this year?

No, Id love to though. What happened to the rear wheel?

Not too sure about the wheel, it looks like it totally melted or something?

You should get yourself over for the TT next year! Get yourself on the course for a couple of laps, oh yeah, and bring money! lol fuel ain't cheap over here :D and once you get on the mountain bit you'll never want to get off since they made it one-way for TT :D :d :eyebrows:

The wheel looks like the hubs failed, if it had melted the tyre would have exploded i'd have thought.

Its an amazing test of man/machine versus 37+ miles of just about everything a circuit can have, huge respect to the guys that take it on and i hope they never stop it, its down to the individual to take it on.
