Projects you wish you'd never started!

It seemed like a good idea when I was lying in bed the other night - how about spraying my electric golf trolley the same colour as the car? That would be cool/stupid/awesome/sad (delete as appropriate).

So I dismantled the whole thing: wheels, attachments, fiddly bits etc, sanded all the bits down, primed them, painted them and, finally, started applying the lacquer. 5 days later I'm beginning to wonder just why the hell I started this thing!! It's sapping hours of my life, I'm doing it in confined spaces, the wind is blowing, it's damp and I'm no sprayer!!

Still, I'm on the final round of lacquering now and it's not looking that bad (for someone of my limited abilities)! Even the 'alloys' weren't spared!! When I can, I'll post a pic from the iPhone!!!

A sad project shared is sadness halved!

And, no, I won't be offering this service to others!!!

It started as one of these.....

Am I buying TRD badges? :D

Are they being overnighted from Japan?:)

No - Hong Kong - but it should make it look too sad for words in the golf club car park!!

Inspired by an article in T3 magazine, I made a set of colour changing LED mood lights for my lounge and kitchen. When I started, these system costs four figures and were real high end "Grand Designs" stuff. By the time I'd been through two complete redesigns, learned PIC programming and made all the bits for the lights completely from scratch by hand, three years had passed. By the time I switched them on you could buy an equivalent system off the shelf for a few hundred quid.

Still, it taught me a lot and kept me off the streets :-)
