Robby
I am a newbie to this forum. I've only just managed to figure out how to upload pics so here's my motor as is: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=111759&stc=1&d=1276106320 The car is a GZ Aero stock and I've owned it for five years. In a nutshell I want to do the following: Full kit / styling / respray Wheels Suspension Exhaust Releather / carpet all the interior. At this time probably just BPU on engine. In the future though it will be getting some hammer! I am a novice with regard to project cars so any help / guidance or technical know how would be gratefully received! Thanks. P.S. is this car anyones in this club? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=111760&stc=1&d=1276106770

Robby
Well it looks the absolute tits and has to be the inspiration for mine. Not sure I'll make 1000BHP just yet, but hopefully in a couple of years! I'm thinking black deep wheels. Not my favourite front bumber, but do really like the skirts. Still undecided about the rear spoiler though.

Deep dish Black wheels sound good, im not a fan of that bumper either, its called bomex, them skirts are veilside and i dont like them either but then i dont like much where kits are concerned, i dont think much is needed aside a nice set of wheels and a clean body. Robby
Where is the best place to look at examples of kits / styling?
JamieP
Have a flick through the members garage. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php? or look in the mutimedia section. EDIT.. tooquicktostop
All your car needs is an active spoiler fixed down or a lower front lip, a set of new headlights either facelift or UK spec and a set of nice 18" wheels, I always like silver wheels on a red car but the choice of wheels is so important as it makes a car... oh and a good clean

TLicense
How long is a piece of string! It massively depends to what level you want it doing. For example, you can get a set of wheels for maybe £1200, or you could spend £1200 per wheel. If you want a TRD kit, then it's going to cost £5000, plus close to another £5000 to fit. Or you could probably get a cheaper kit and get it re-sprayed at a budget place for £2 - 3K all in. What would be a lot easier is if you were to suggest some kind of budget. How much would you realisticly like to / able to spend on the car?
Nic
Has anyone got a rough idea of the cost to do the above? How long is a piece of string? Depends what parts you fit, eg. wheels can vary from £600 for cheap ebay stuff to £3K+ a set for a good quality lightweight set. Likewise you can buy cheap suspension for around £600 or top quality for a couple of £K's. Same with other parts, genuine bodykits are expensive (but much better quality and fit), knockoffs are a lot cheaper but not as good quality and will cost a lot more to fit properly. Decide what spec you want then price it up, you'll be looking at many £K's to do the lot. Robby
Yeah I guess I was a bit vague! Basically I have allocated £10k at the moment. I alo have a lot of help on the mechanical side of things. The spray job I want immaculately, probably engine out and all seals round windows replacing. I always try do things economically, for example I am happy to find some second hand wheels and refurb / powder-coat them. I am happy to buy various bits second hand in the knowledge they can be restored to original look. I'm sure there are lots of unknowns, and would rather know now if I'm missing anything major. I want the final outcome to be a showroom finish all round.

Matt H
Is that a wide body kit on the back? Cheers mate, The back consists of Veilside overfenders and a trial rear bumper blended together. the key's the blend of the different body kit parts. Nic
Basically I have allocated £10k at the moment. I would priorities the things you want to do. Personally before doing any 'enhancements' my first priority would be to make sure the car is in good mechanical order. Get the suspension checked out on a ramp, replace any worn parts with new OEM Toyota components. Give the engine a good service changing all fluids, plugs, filters, etc. Check condition of the radiator, intercooler, replace if needed. Fit new oxygen sensor. Check condition of brakes, if it is fitted with the smaller option brakes, one of my first 'modifications' would be to upgrade to a set of the larger OEM brakes, with good quality pads, braided brakelines, decent fluid, etc. Only once I had the car in tip top mechanical order (this could cost you a big chunk of your budget) would I start to think about things such as BPU, exterior, interior, etc. That's the way I'd do it, there are far too many cars that have £K's thrown at them with bodykits, huge shiny wheels, fancy leather retrims, dodgy steering wheels, etc. with no consideration or money put into the mechanical side of the car. Would it be worth taking it to a specialist for a good look over firstly? If so where would be the best place near me? (Nottingham) Thanks. martini
Do everything Nic said then worry about the looks I'd change the headlights, indicators and get an active spoiler. Some new alloys too and that'd be me done. Nice car
