I regularly swim and wakeboard with Tiger Sharks in the South China Sea apparently.

Thankfully I've never seen one, but have seen a couple of these.

I thought it was an excellent programme, except the cutting up bits ;)

I'd love to go down in a cage and watch them :)

Cage is for ladyboys, go down in the open. If you are worried i have a lucky pork chop you could wear around you neck. :innocent:

Anyone watching the program on Sharks on Ch4.

Really impressive stuff, but never mind the Greatwhite, I cant believe the Goblin Shark.

I'm never going in the sea again :hide:

She may be ugly, but she makes a cracking cup of tea in the morning! Just don't let her offer any 'special' services, cos you may not live to regret it! :D

Sharks are cool.

* For starters, their Ampullae of Lorenzini were described by my university lecturer as so sensitive to electrical activity that they can detect the equivalent of an AA battery in Australia from New Zealand (about 1500 miles)! That's pretty damn sensitive.

* They don't need a swim bladder like bony fish - their livers are large and contain a specialised oil for buoyancy.

* They are so perfectly adapted to their role as an apex predator that sharks haven't evolved for millions of years (like crocodiles). However, an ancient species of Great White called Carcharodon Megalodon was about the size of Jaws (20+ m)!

Damn really annoyed I missed this, hopefully I'll be able to watch it online somewhere. I absolutely love sharks, I went down in a cage when I was in Mexico with several Bull sharks including a 12ft one that was very curious and took some fish from a feeding stick. Saw lots of other sharks too, Brown Sharks, Lemon sharks etc, was a great experience and one I shall never forget :)

Jaws was only about 25 feet. A Megalodon was around 50 feet, over twice the size as a great white. :)

And a tooth.

Impressive!

A good picture for scale...

This is the average white shark. 25 feet is the biggest on record iirc, Jaws was meant to be 30ft... the sizes in the movie were fisherman's dorsel to tail guestimates (Bruce was 20 feet or so) :D

I really wish they would bring out a decent "Meg" movie :(
