Need a set of brackets for front door to upgrade to 6.5"speakers.Would make some myself but printer is not working to download plans.Alternatively would be very appreciative if someone could print me off a set of plans and post them to me.Would be more than happy to buy them to give them a few quid for their inconvenience;)

Pics added, this is the prototype design the finished one is better than this.

They use the stock grilles.

I assume that means i cant use the covers my speakers came with. Not fussy on the stock covers as they dont match my interior. Can you confirm if this is the case

You can screw you aftermarket grills to the door panel if you want but the speakers will be behind the panel.

It will only work if they are full grills so you can't see the speaker behind otherwise it won't look right.

Hi mate..Thanks for the reply. I am interested in a set but think they are a little too expensive for MDF.The originals by TRICKTT were the same price but were made of top quality marine ply and chamfered. How about £25

Unfortunatly I couldnt do them for that price as they cost me more than that to get made.

Like I said the pics are a protoytype so the finish is much better on them now with soft edges.

They are made from moisture resistant MDF which is perfectly good for whats needed. Thats the same material used for sub boxes and door builds.

Also there is no chance of them getting wet in the door anyway as they are on the inside skin.

Sounds like you need to either sell the supra and get something cheap, or don't modify.

£35 for something of that quality is top notch. You don't need to chamfer the design for it to work. Spray the MDF with varnish or wood preserve if you're worried about material longetivity.

I built my own home so am quite capable of making my own brackets especially as i have loads of ply and mdf hanging about.Trouble is i cant print off the plans thats w i am a little reluctant to pay £35

There's a scale drawing and one with dimensions on. To be honest, the best thing to do is go off your existing speakers mounts anyway. Use that to place the precise the points for the 3 screws and then, using the centre of the stock speaker, run a compass around for the 6.5" or whatever size you're going for.

I'd have thought that for someone that built an entire house, this would be a piece of cake! You should be bubbling with ingenuity!

Oh, and if you can't print off the plans for whatever reason, I'll send you them in the post, but seriously, it's a piece of cake to make your own.

Thanks for that. Was thinking of attempting to build my own but was a little apprehensive when i read about all the tapers etc.Didnt want to keep fitting the bracket then taking door card on and off repeatedly.Would be much simpler with plans. Will have a bash this weekend.so you suggest that a taper is not necessary or tapering the edges/rings etc.

You can buy a 8ft by 4ft sheet of moisture-resistant MDF for less than £35. A long while ago I posted a graphic showing how many brackets that one sheet can produce. It was a lot, more than 50.

There's little info on the exact tapers anyway, it's trial and error.

I'm saying the taper on the speaker mount area is desirable, but they're not essential. I've not used tapers on mine and the results speak for themselves. There's give enough in the door card to accomodate any slight difference in the vertical. Here's my install thread for you to peruse:
