Hello

I have a TRD speedo in it and drive a J-spec Supra in Germany. The speedo is in Km / h and now shows too much on! How can I fix it?

:rolleyes::search:

Thanks Andre

Welcome to the forum. Take a little look here. I have the same speedo using a 6 speed box and auto diff so speedo was way out without a signal converter. This little converter was designed for bikes so is light weight, water proof and vibration proof. It solved all my problems and now my speedo is very accurate to three figures compared to GPS speed. It will also calibrate in KPH or MPH, I remember correctly it will store two settings so ideal if you have swap between different wheels, or travel across the channel regularly you can flick from MPH to KPH at the push of a button. Max speed recall is a good feature too.

I have the problem if I'm going 100kmh according to GPRS, the speedometer shows me at 160kmh. How do I get the set properly?

You need a speed signal converter, like the one I have. You fit it, drive at 100kmh according to GPS read the speedo use a formula supplied by the manufacturer, enter the result in to the speedo converter and your speedo will be corrected.

They may be other ways of correcting this, but without knowing what has been done to the electronics on your car it or is hard to advise.

A j-spec shouldn't need a converter to read km/h correctly, should it? Japan is a km country and the TRD speedo is for the Japanese domestic market car.

I had one on (coincidentally) a black j-spec which is now in Germany and the speedo read km/h correctly.

Have you bought the car recently Andre?

More details here here

Ebay item number 380223605748

I got mine from this bike shop, looks like the price has gone up though.

You need to ask for the generic loom, all the others are bike specific.

Really interesting info. I also have a misreading on my TRD speedo. It is in exactly the same type of car it originally was working 100% with (6sp, jspec TT) and it shows too little. It is a kph speedo as I'm in DK and the car was also kph (bought it 100% stock newly imported) so I don't get what is going on.

My misreading is more like 10-15% (guessing here as I have moved my "exact" point to 100 kph, so it now shows too much below 100kph and too much after). It is roughly accurate in the range of 100-140.

As it, of cause, is a percentage misreading (I'm suspecting a crap SLD being the issue) I'm guessing this box can fix it, right?

How is the installation? And where?

bodilx6: I had the Thor/TRL delimiter and converter in my J-spec car. It has a trim to adjust out the speedo error.

Thanks. Thats right. I had forgot that existed. I actually had a talk with them a year or so ago. As I recall it has an adjuster that adds/decrease in 1.5% steps, right?

Do you have any info on installation of this? I can't find anything on the DSC+TCD (I'm guessing this is the one?) on their site.

Installation is only a few wires you just need a daigram of thje loom that feeds the speed signal. This unit will do either KPH or MPH and switch between the two once set up.

I use it in preference to other more established products because it is made for ther bike environment, so tough, and light and it works. It is very accurate with very fine adjustment in KPH or MPH, not in percentage jumps. It will store two settings so if you use different wheels or swap diff ratios etc, you can correct the speedo very easily. Digital read out makes setting very simple.
