Wez
Hey All, Did anyone see the best of fifth gear on channel 5 last night. I was suprised by the F1 quater mile time, I thought it would be quicker and how it completly trounced the racing bike worth £1million. Alex
It was about 9secs... A) it's was using F1 tyres not drag ones. B) There is no grip till the aeropackage starts to work because... C) The suspension is too stiff for good grip off the line...it's all about cornering with F1 cars. But once it was upto speed, fcuk me does it shift! Wez
The F1 was crazy it pulled away about the same as the bike and then once enough air was flowing over the car he nailed it and it lefted the bike and boat like they were standing still, incredible. I have only seen F1 for real once and the noise is mad, they sound like they are about to blow up off throttle and then all hell opens up on throttle. The boat was crap, mind you it was the heaviest and had the lowest power to weight ratio plus had to push through water, would have been better if they used one of those turbo jet single seater F1 boats, now they are fast. tbourner
Don't offshore drag boats do standing 1/4s in like 7 seconds or something stupid!!! The F1 on that race had traction control problems as well didn't it?
Seb
Seemed unfair to use a 220bhp boat against 2 machines which are pretty much at the top of the land-based racing tree. I was thinking about drag bikes and boats, but then you'd want a dragster as well. In terms of vehicles that actually race on circuits, I reckon an offshore power boat would have evened things up. And that bike needed wheelie bars.
