supra steveo
Today i by-passed the stock factory amp so it could be removed from the car to give a little extra space under the passenger seat what is needed a pair of wire cutters a crimping tool 1st picture is of the amp in its place 2nd picture of the amp removed 3rd picture of the 1st clip needed to do the by-pass 4th picture of the 2nd clip needed to do the by-pass 5th picture how it should look when done on picture 3 you will need the sky blue wire and the purple wire on picture 4 you will need the wire to the left of the thick brown wire and the wire in the bottom corner of the clip these need to be conected by a clip or bullet conectors to make them loop and by-pass the amp so now there will be power to the after market stereo while the amp is removed i cant remember which way the wire are connected but i think it is purple wire --------- blue wire sky blue wire -------grey wire if this is wrong just change them around, when you are done wrap with electicians tape and stick it under the carpet, you will also need to run your speakers off the back of the after market headunit Edited May 31, 2010 by supra steveo (see edit history)

SteveC
I'm slightly baffled by this (nice post though ). Why would you need to go to the bother of altering the wiring - or have I missed the point altogether? If you're using the original (not hacked about) Toyota wiring and installing a new head unit, then there's no need to go to that much effort. When I removed my stock Toyota system, I just used an Autoleads PC2-17-4 ISO cable to connect the new head unit to the existing Toyota wiring. It took a few seconds and I then just unplugged the amp under the seat and removed it as it was automatically by-passed by using the Autoleads PC2-17-4 cable. SteveC
Lol fair one but my version is cheap as chips Yeah, fair point. I had to splash out £2.75 (inc P&P) for my ISO cable. Perhaps I shouldn't have been quite so hasty. Full credit to you though for figuring out the wiring...
Matt Harwood
If you use the adaptor lead, you can completely remove the old amp wiring giving even more space... Not to mention it's a damn sight easier as most aftermarket units have an ISO plug fitted to them so the radio installation is much, much easier.
