Citreon relay van 2001 plate. Are they any good?

I'm looking for a van and have considered transit's (smiley face) but I haven't managed to find one without being rotten. These look like the same size and money, but without the bodywork issues. Seem to be from 1996 to 2001 before they facelifted it.

If anyone has some experience of either owning one or working on one I would be grateful for some feedback.

Here is the one I am bidding on:

yeah gearbox was ok on mine but i know its a common fault - problem is unless you get a reconhow good is a spare one??? clutch went on mine (not worn out broke up) and it was an absolute nightmare to do:( also wheel bearings cv joints, lots of little things glow plugs etc. and it was a pain to get through the MOT on emmisions 1 year and i needed to wind the stop back so it only got half throttle to get it through - mine was the 2.5TD

there's a reason i now drive a smiley as a daily driver:cool: ................oh i can weld thats it:D

I've owned quite a few vans including one of these and known other owners too, they're no better or worse then any other make of van.

They're extremely easy to work on with loads of room for access, great driving position and they're wider than transits.

The front wheel drive is great in the snow.

The Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxer and Fiat Ducato are all made on the same production line by PSA & Fiat.

Thank you, thats what I wanted to hear as i'm really set on getting one now. The 51 plate I looked at is really clean, only a couple of small dents here and there and zero rust.
