inlet/zaust stem seal help please

Hello all

been a while but I need some help again :D

I'm currently changing my stem seals on the Supe using one of the guides on here and so far so good, much easier than I was expecting - good times. One thing I wanted to check before bunging the new ones in is the refferences to colour.

Now apparently according to the guide the inlet ones should be bronze and the exaust silver - now I have been given 24 all bronze - now before you ask I did notice this when reading the guide originally and took them back and asked them to re-order which they did, but each of the 3 times I winged they got sent the same ones so Im now wondering if there is any difference at all i.e size or anything ????

Im currently working on the inlet side and have pulled out a bronze one so I know I can atleast complete that half of the seal replacement, my question is, from anyones knowledge or experience can I use the bronze ones given for the other side or has there been a repeated mistake made when ordering ? It wasn't Toyota by the way but a reputable parts business.

Half way through writing this I realise I could pull out and exaust one and check the colour but I've written it now so will post. Also I don't see how the same mistake can be made 3 times once I explained about the colour difference and why it is so !

I believe if you order a stem seal set nowadays you just get one lot that covers all, so they are all the same colour / part number.

I have a set with me at the moment, and they're all the same colour too.

Yes I see what you mean Smarty, thatnks for going to the trouble.

Having said that though TLicense surely it's better to have 24 of the slightly taller bronze ones than 24 slightly smaller silver ones right, as apposed to just getting the correct combination to start with if you see what I mean lol ?!?!?

I have 24 bronze so I should be ok to wack them in if you have the same from your order :-)

Just measure my two coloured set

Bronze

Height 10.05mm

Exterior Diameter 13.51mm

Seal inner diameter 5.15mm

Grey

Height 9.85mm

Exterior Diameter 13.20 mm

Seal inner diameter 5.34 mm

So if they have changed them to all bronze now, I wonder if they ,Toyota, had more problems with the grey as they don't grip the valve stem so tightly. I think I may be ordering 12 more bronze VSO's.

Ignore me I'm talking rubbish. I've just had a route through all my old gaskets and bits and bobs and I've actually got two sets of stem seals. (I've just found 24 bronze seals!)

So to confirm...

1 complete set of seals = 12 x grey seals + 12 x bronze seals.
