Wyntersun
What's the best way to get the backlighting on my climate control brighter? Seems really dim looking compared to the rest of the dash. Matt
Homer
Are the buttons yellowed in the daylight? They do tend to fade a fair bit on the older cars, especially aero ones. They should normally be bright enough to see at night though so something isn't quite right. New buttons can be bought from Toyota, they are reasonably inexpensive. Wyntersun
Cheers Homer, I think your right, they do look a bit yellowed on the button symbols.
Homer
Just edited above with some more info. Also, the back lights on that unit have several bulbs (3 I think), so it could be that one of more are blown, so add that to your check list
Wyntersun
Thanks for the info Do you know where I can get the part numbers for the buttons etc? I did check the bulbs only last week and they seemed to be working. I think your right about the buttons being yellowed by the sun. Think I might need the temp and speed dial too. Mcgoo
Have a look at Heckler's site. He shows you how to fix the dry joints if you have them or you can change to LEDs. http://www.internetwork.org.uk/supra.htm
Wyntersun
Excellent, thanks. Got the part numbers from there to

I only checked the 2 bulbs for the illumination of the fan speed and temp dial. Just checked Hecklers site and didn't realise the button illumination bulbs were under the plastic panel that needs to be removed.
Homer
Yep, the actual bulbs are behind the panel, forgot to mention that! Hopefully a simple (and cheap) fix to a simple problem
