TLicense
Am having a strange broadband issue at the moment. I get a phone call from my girlfriend that 'the internet is broken'. After confirming that it's maybe just our connection to the internet that is broken rather than the entire internet I return home to discover:- 1. We have wireless connection to the router no problem. 2. The router can see an ADSL service. 3. The router believes it is connected to the internet. 4. I'm unable to browse using Google Chrome or IE either by entering the URL or IP address of any websites. 5. Using any of three seperate computers, two seperate routers, two seperate ADSL filters or the BT master socket makes no difference. 6. The DNS lookup function on my router IS working. (I can type in any web page and it will return the IP address). 7. I'm unable to ping any web address. 8. I've tried using the BT test account and password but if I do this then my router loses the connection it believes it has. 9. The firewall on my router and on my pc's (as well as anti virus) have been disabled. I'm with plus net who have conducted a line test, and they believe there to be no issues. So I'm all out of suggestions. Anyone got any further clues??? Cheers, Tony
Wez
Were any of the tests completed with a computer cabled to the router or they all wireless?
Whitesupraboy2
Does the username and password actually get a connection (your username / password) and do you get given an IP address on the router?
JustGav
Were any of the tests completed with a computer cabled to the router or they all wireless? Yup, go for a hard wire connection to test...
Thorin
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
TLicense
Were any of the tests completed with a computer cabled to the router or they all wireless? Hard-wired and wireless. I can connect to the router no problem with either. But yes I spent all yesterday evening trying to solve this whilst wired. Does the username and password actually get a connection (your username / password) and do you get given an IP address on the router? Yes and yes. Have you tried turning it off and on again? Many, many many times.
TLicense
Very bizarre turn of events, as when I got home from work today everything is working. Have contacted plusnet to find out what they've done during the day....
Homer
Was just about to post and say it sounds like an ISP routing issue. If you get it again a copy of the trace route as it should indicate where the fault is at. There are also alternative proxies you can enter manually in case of an error, if you seach the net it will provide some that you can use for your ISP - however this doesn't seem to be a proxy issue this time.
