Homer
Sounds like fuel cut - Was it a momentary loss of power? Do you have the TRL FCD? That raises the fuel cut level to 1.25bar.
chris aka fonz
i have a hks fcd .
Timwildman
Was there or is there any smoke? could be a turbo pipe blown off?
chris aka fonz
didnt see any smoke , had a look under the bonnet cant see or smell anything !
Ian C
Deffo sounds like a hose blowing off, try the ones at the back of the bay, on the left, at the intake air control valve... -Ian

chris aka fonz
just bin out cant see any hoses off , ??????????
absz
its most likely one of the induction hoses that run from the intercooler to throttle body. have a look from the top between the fan and rad to see if one has come off, might be hard to notice as they just pull away slightly. same thing has happened to me on two different supras now at speeds. chris aka fonz
ok ive looked and they all seem fine......... any more ideas ?
Clarkey
Maybe teeny tiny splits in the hoses ??
chris aka fonz
seems to be a real sudden loss of power , would small splits in the hoses do that , been running good all day !
Clarkey
IIRC - from reading on here, split or brittle hoses will cause boost leaks. Have you run your car in TTC mode to diagnose if the both turbos are working correctly ?
chris aka fonz
not brilliant with the lingo mate TTC ? sorry for being a dumbass .
Clarkey
I can't remember what it stands for exactly, but it's running the turbos in parallel instead of sequential. I think Ian C has a thread on here, that explains how you do the mod.
Clarkey
True Twin Conversion http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/ttc/ttc.htm
chris aka fonz
Cheers , has anyone done this and left them working together like that or is it better for them to work sequentially ? Ill have a look tomorrow , see if i can see any splits in the hoses .

Gazboy
How much petrol did you/do you have in the tank? I was racing a Griffith once, when on low fuel (like real low), when something happened like running in to the 112mph limiter (mine is delimited), just wouldn't pull over 4000rpm. Had to stop at a petrol station anyway, filled up, found a large stretch and gunned it, revved clean in 3rd (auto) till well over 6k. I'm not saying this is the cause of your problem, but is it worth thinking about???
Geezabloke
Check the small hoses feeding your actuators at the top rear left above the turbo pipework. If one of these has come loose they can have various effects from loss of boost pressure (varying) to non activation of turbo 2. Ive had these pop off regularly over the last year or so, i have now secured with small cable ties. Hope this made some sense? Dave

Filled it up and it was fine. Is there some kind of safety fitted to stop the engine funning too lean?

Is there some kind of safety fitted to stop the engine funning too lean? I've had the same thing aswell. At first you can't help but think your second turbo has gone. One positive side to this is once you've filled the car up all is ok and your real relieved-completely forgetting about the £60 you just had to shell out! chris aka fonz
my petrol light is on and was when i booted it , so maybe thats what it is , all the hoses seem intact and connected , ironic really if it was one of the hoses that had split as ive been looking at the samco kits this wk end ! ill fill her up and see what happens
chris aka fonz
Sorted guys , yeh must be something to do with fuel , i just filled it up and took it for a spin and its boosting fine now . Cheers for all your help
