my luck escape (few)

had a close one yesterday,

i was in my toyota high ace heading back to my workshop fully loaded with tyres doing about 70 mph down the back lane from neport to cardiff.

as i approched a bend i presed the brakes only to have a completely solid pedal , no stopping power atall.

i went straight off the road and luckily the farmer whos field i had jus enterd had left his gates open so i went through the gates trying to stop the van using gears and the handbrake but it was just loking and sneaking as i was now on mud.

heading straight for the barn a gently edged it left now doing about 20mph and stuffed it into a hedge row to stop it .

this is not the firt time the van had tryed to off me , and it wont be fixed again.

the farmer was verry good about it . he ulld me out of the hedge and made sure i was ok , so i gave him a pair of 205/55/16s from the van for his vectra :)

just lucky that

A. there was nothing comeing the other way around the bend

B. tha gates were open

c. there were no cows on my route to the hedge

D. the old guy wasnt one of those luny trigger happy farmers with a shot gun.

p.s has anybody got a van for sale :)

hell that was close! Glad you are ok. I never lost brakes and had a solid pedal, it was always pedal to the floor with no brakes!

Not trying to insult your intelligence but Have you checked to see if something came loose under the pedal, it's just that I have never heard of a frozen pedal.

Oh dear! If that was on TV it would be quite commical! :D However I'm glad luck was on your side and everything turned out ok... Rather convenient I think.

I think my brother has an Astra van for sale, i'll ask him about it.

no need bigger but thanks.

i think the servo faild. there is a strange setup on these vans with a kind of slave driven by the crank that is piped into the servo. the belt came off last year and i had a sold pedal then but that time i was on a big open road .

not sure why its happend this time
