The Nod Project - Serious Low Cost conversion

There's definitely been a 4WD Supra made - crazy Russians - but I can't recall the details of their 4WD system.

It's a Lenco with an adaptor into a R33 GTR torque split controlled transfer box. These are self contained units and very easy to adapt onto other gearboxes. Doesn't work for me unfortunatley at I need counter rotation on rear prop but normal rotation on the front prop (Front diff is Mk3 Supra upside down with LSD clutches removed as diffs don't like taking full power on the coast side).

Still the engineering is fabulous on the 4WD system, the wish bones and some of the other brackets look a bit gash though.

I like the 1fz engine reckoned to be good for 1000bhp straight out the box.

Well, clearly you've considered a few avenues with this project. Good luck with it all!

Building cars is like writing software. There are those who rush head long into it fire fighting as they go and there are those who, ponder all the ramifications and possible pitfalls, do paper flow assessments and design a neat concise system.

I just wish I could write software like I build cars :D

Your code always was a bit dodgy :p

How's things Nod? Looks like you've got a nice project going there.

Going to having to bail on this project. MR2's are no longer viable now I'm going to be a dad.

My wife is selling her MR2 V6 so we can get another Passat Estate. However, this one is going to be a Cheap B5 4Motion model and the Lexus V8 and auto box are going in that. Fortunately the B5 and B5.5 passats were based on the Audi A4/A6 floor pan so it's a north/south with trans axle configuration and the steering rack is way up high above the box so should be an easy(ish) conversion for a RWD only Passat. It's going to be a sleeper this one, no visable exhaust, no body kit, the old MasItaly VTR5's off my old MK3 Supra and a spot of lowering will be the only visible mods.

The engine bay has good width as the engine is canted over, this means a pair of CT20b's should fit snug up against the block ;)

I've grown out of MR2's. Just driving my wife's one when the Passat broke was enough to remind me i'm 40 this year, and this is a young persons car (I felt embarrassed being seen in it).

Besides, an 800bhp shopping barge will be a lot more fun.

The exact reason I do not miss mine one bit!
