DodgyRog
OK. Surely though its already failed if its squeeling? It will of course just fall off then the instant you take the belt off. Also being in a nit picky mood this morning (I think I have PMT lol) it would be the tensioner I'd suspect if hearing squeeling which is also an item that I would be very concerned about the repurcusions of letting go http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=600148&postcount=1 Haha, yes you do have Pmt. The crankpulley doesn't always just fall off, well mine didn't anyway. It was actually still very tight. The line is used to show the squeal is caused by a failed crankpulley, as you have pointed out yourself, there are other things the squeal could be. To be honest you are right about the tensioner but that goes for all the auxillaries. When any of them fail they can cause a squeal through bearings or belt slipage etc I await your Pmt based reply:p Edited May 26, 2010 by DodgyRog (see edit history)

Dnk
How so? I'm intrigued. After reading this I'm thinking of getting mine changed. Its not much cheaper and i did call the supplier to see if the price could be reduced by buying 10 of them but that didn't make any differance. £237.60 inc vat was the best price i could get. bigbloodyturbo
if your needing a crank pulley i highly recommend whifbitz, not only cheaper (£186 iirc but dont hold me to it) but next day delivery on it aswell.

Robzki
hmmmmm, now I'm worried. had a belt squeek on mine for 2 years. aux belt always looked good, when sprayed with some 'belt slip' the squeek goes away. So I didn't give it a second thought. now I'm a little concerned. The belt slip only lasts a couple of weeks then its back. Its not loud, just annoying, and does seem to emanate from the bottom pulley. Will def' check it when swmbo gets home with it. luckily its half term so I've got the car for the week. Rinus
Interesting cause my car is from 1994, so will have to check this.. Anyone got oem-number for me? So I can check what our local toyota dealer will charge..
L33
Haha, yes you do have Pmt. The crankpulley doesn't always just fall off, well mine didn't anyway. It was actually still very tight. or in my case explode in to pieces, smash the cam belt tensioner and cause a hand full of problems! so yes change your crank pully
