Spike3.0
My Alloys curently have crappy tyres so need replacing, They are 255.45.18 rears and 225.40.18 fronts, Could I fit a slightly different size? I've seen a good deal on 215.40.18's, would these fit the front? All info would be gladly recieved:)
Spike3.0
Anyone? Just about to buy them : (
neo2810
They will fit your rims as they are still 18" tyres, however, you are reducing the overall tyre diametre by 8mm which could have an effect on gearing. You may need to recalibrate your speedo as a result but I don't know enough about it to be sure so I'll let one of the resident experts tell me what complete tosh I've just spouted
neo2810
Actually, looking at the calculations here: http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm You're only varying by 1.26% against a recommended max of 2.5% so you should be ok.
AndyT
?Your tyre dimensions sound all wrong Spike. http://85.232.35.135/vbb/showpost.php?p=121869&postcount=4 These are the standard sizes. How wide are your wheels? Also the lower profile should be on the back. What prices are you looking at? As a guide a set of Falken 452's should set you back about 400 notes. Mine are after market alloys. The tyres are completly crap currently. I've ordered, or at least on the process of ordering. 215.40.18 for the fronts and 255.40.18 for the rears I'm not sure about the size of the alloys without tyres... You should have a higher profile on the front to even up the diameter of your wheels. Profile is dependant on the width of your tyres remember, so 40 profile on a 215 isn't the same amount of sidewall as 40 profile on a 255. 215 seems a bit skinny for a Supra. Ok, cheers I'll measure the wheels tomorrow and dig a little deeper;)

Stock 94 NA Supra (2JZ-GE I assume he has): Front: 225/50 16" Rear: 245/50 16" What he has now: Front: 225/40 18" (Variance 0.95% or -6mm from stock which is fine) Rear: 255/45 18" (Variance 5.53% or -36mm from stock which is too much) What he's about to buy: Front: 215/40 18" (Variance 0.32% or -2mm from stock which is fine) So in essence, buying the wheels to replace your front's are fine, but you need to change the rear's to 255/40 18"....
