Nodalmighty
Glenn, make sure Ryan activates the "STACK" RS232 data stream and runs the Comm ground and RS232 TX wire (twisted) to a suitable location under the steering wheel
Nodalmighty
I have 2 colour screens winging there way to me. One is the 1.7" for prototyping my gauge upgrade and the other is some 2.8" QVGA touch screen version for Ryan G I can now run 6 colour gauges per channel as they are now server client rather than direct select. The server module has 3 channels so 18 gauges could be run theoretically. The big 2.8" touch screen version will be stand alone and talk to the Syvecs directly (like an big hand commander / Link Dash). Each gauge has 2gb of graphic/logging memory Mirco SD card. Firmware and bug fixes will come as files that you copy to these cards. You will be able to customise the graphics to some degree and add your own splash screens. I have a 2.8" Touch TFT running some stuff but it eats processor and memory and is really slow to access the SD card. Glenn, your processor only has 1 uart (1 channel) so you can only add 4 more screens when I upgrade you.

EdMorris
Have you finished that Supra yet? Nope. Its been at the trimmers for 3 months! Still the same issue to sort when its back. Dare I say it, I've been talking with Thor again about letting them do it. Could be a blank cheque situation though. Not sure what to do really. Roger Smith the chap who developed Thor's V8 Supra install kits was made redundant so without him there to over see it I would excise caution. Roger now works for Monk Fish so I'd go there and get it sorted as they are all about V8 engines and gearboxes.

Nodalmighty
They don't have FTDI USB chips on these Thought I HAD broke it for a while, but it turns out I needed the OFFICIAL FTDI adaptor to talk to it. I now have the first demo's that come with the IDE running and first impressions are very good. Crisp and Clear colours and very fast rendering. I took a picture but it doesn't do it justice so I'm not posting anything until I have something propitiatory running on it that looks mint. Nodalmighty
Now holding my breath... /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_oops.gif Spotted some sunlight so when out and tried it in the car in the usual places (Pillars, DIN slots, on the dash). Nice and visible still so I think I have a result.
GlennK
Getting close... But next time try checking the displays in the sunlight!
Nodalmighty
I've decided to use SATA as my network cable of choice. Mainly because they carry the 1.5 amps per contact (I need about 700ma to drive 6 screens so i have some over head) and the OLED have some staged power down requirement so the power supply needs to be permanent so when the serial comm from the ECU decoder box ceases (ignition switched) the screens power them selves down safely. This required more than 6 lines and the RJ series wires don't have sufficient current handling. Cables of various lengths are available meaning screens can be mounted around the cab without reams of cable being coiled up under the dash. An aside is SATA cables are available in various funky colours

GlennK
So spent a long day with Lyndon installing the prototype displays and interface controller and road testing. A few tricky bits but all went pretty smoothly. Needed some reprogramming and the results are very pleasing for a first of type. Here's some photos below. There's still some more tweaking and additions (occasional spurious warnings, average fuel consumption, range to empty, brightness control) but on the long drive back last night I toggled through each set of telemetry data pages and arrived home with a big grin! Thanks to Ryan for prepping the Syvecs output, and to Lyndon for a lot of hard work. Keep it up - and we'll try the OLED colour displays when they're ready! Nodalmighty
Those are a one off, I'll never make another set and they will be put in the NOD museum as my first attempt. The only reason I made them was so my arse could honour a cheque my gob made out. I have a first demo of a Photo Realistic Auto Meter Gauge and a software needle. Just wish I had a camera that could do the a movie that would do the OLED Screen justice. If any one has any tips on how to make a sony DSG W55 take a movie with out the focus going in and out please advise (It only does it while recording, it's fine when static) MARCO is on or it just won't focus at all. GlennK
Can you programme the needle act 'ballistically' - so has a bit of swing to it? When can I try one?
Nodalmighty
It will have a divisive chase mechanism to stop flutter and skip, so it will naturally have this effect. You can try one when it's finished this time. I should be able to update your current set up in a few months.
