Boost problem

On the way to Japfest i appear to have a 2nd turbo boost problem, under hard acceleration the car would reach around 5000 rpm then felt like it hit fuel cut, red warning triangle came on then as i backed off the throttle the triangle went out.

Had a look at the show and thought i'd found the problem with a loose hose so i fixed that and tried it out on the way back.

Did a few hard pulls past 5k and no problem so thought i'd fixed it but then i did one more and at 6k + the same again, felt like fuel cut and red triangle lit up and went out as i backed off.

Any ideas anyone, ive checked all the hoses and connections and all seems good, other than this the cars running spot on.

cheers

Have you got a boost gauge in or away of seeing what boost you are running , if you were to bring the rev's up say on half throttle and then hard throttle you may have got the rev's abit higher before you get over boost then fuel cut . you know what its like its hard sometimes to put your finger on something with out seeing the car , im sure it will just be something simple like a pipe off for split somewere ,there are so many of them :).

The only thing is that i did not have my red warning triangle on . i throught that was only on ,when the doors was open ,or the handbrake is on ,or the brake fluid is low . If there are other reason for this light to be on it may point you in the right direction . Rich.

The only boost gauge is on the Blitz controller, i guess i'll have another look around the hoses etc and if nothing obvious i'll have to book it in somewhere and get it on a rolling rd to find the cause.

I shouldnt get any fuel cut should i if the FCD is working correctly ?

Thanks for your help Rich

If anyone else has any ideas it would be nice to hear them

You should've said Dunk, I could've had a nose for you. Was it the same issue as when we went to Modified Live?

I dont recall Kev, i thought i'd found the problem at Japfest as a hose was loose but when checking it out on route home it did the same, this was at much higher rpm though and when i got to Martins the hose was on so that ruled that out.

I'm not knowledgable on FCD's as my car has a mines ECU with built in fuel cut. But as far as I know, FCD's are adjustable. Your FCD might be set to exactly the limit of your peak boost, so a slight spike will hit fuel cut. lowering the boost slightly will tell you straight away if it stops doing it, that it's hitting fuel cut, and you might want to adjust the FCD up a bit.

Mine is the TRL FCD made by Thor, i didnt realise they were adjustable but will definetly drop the boost on the controller and see what happens.

I guess i'll be fine doing this in a lower gear to keep the speed down seeing as ive not got access to a rolling rd or a race track ?
