francis
Hi there Just bought Nick's UK 6spd TT and have been driving it almost contantly for the last two days! Anyway I've noticed sometimes it juts won't go in to sixth gear, and then at other times it seems to go in fine. Is there something I'm missing, does it matter what speed you're travelling at to put it in sixth or is this a common problem? Cheers, Francis
nickyboy
Mate, I never had any probs at all going into 6th - it's in a different position to 5th that 4th is from 2nd and that 3rd is from 1st so it takes a bit of getting used to...
francis
Cheers Nick Probably just needs a bit of getting used to. Have been clocking up the miles in the last couple of days, managed to get 21mpg on the first tank which was a plesant surprise. Still can't believe how quick it is! Didn't realise how much traction control holds it back, especially in first gear, but it certainly gets a lot twitchier with it off, especially when braking I've noticed... Anyway off for another drive Francis

Chiefgroover
I had this problem for a short while when i was using synthethic oil. A change to the toyota stuff and it went away? Weak pressure plate might do it too? p.s. 6th isnt directly behind 5th its slightly off line.
francis
Just went out for a quick spin, my fault, I had assumed it was all the way to the right and down but it's slightly to the left, no problems getting it in now Would love to come to the London meets, should be down Santa Pod next weekend too. Ian C
You are probably catching the reverse gate, that's all -Ian PS better than catching the gate reversing har har
Keith C
Try checking that the leather gearstick boot isn't getting in the way - it can very easily prevent you getting into 5th/6th if it's not properly adjusted.
scooby_doo_do
I some times have trouble as well... But thats when i'm doing 120+... I have to wait for the car to slow down before i can engage it.... Only does it occasionally mind you....
