I would have a rat, if I didn't already have a dog, a cat and 4 tarantulas! :)

Get a camel spider please? :D

Not those silly little wind scorpion things. They are tiny in real life and only get a little 'twitchy' when cornered. Ugly buggers too.

Stick with a rat. They sound great. :)

Slight hijack this, but a couple of days ago I was listening to a pod cast called "mock the weak" (nothing to do with the comedy TV panel show). During a news part of the show they reported on a 'bestiality farm' in the USA which had been raided by the FBI and several abused animal had been rescued. They mentioned some Hamsters and Gerbils were found with missing tails that had been prepared for some sick and ghastly act of depravity.

I'm now wondering what action would justify removal of the tail and what pleasure a small animal like that could give?

Please don't bother contacting the RSPCA as I'm no threat to Micky Mouse or his friends, just very curious!

Largest known solifuge being 6inch, though thats leg to leg.

they may be small but theyr incredibly able animals.

very fast and ferocious. They have the strongest jaw known reletive to size.

Still, theyre relatively low on the food chain.

Soz, im a bit of a arachnid freak tbh:P

You Sir are very ill :D. I had heard myth about gay gents putting hamsters and the likes in condoms and inserting them where the sun doesn't shine.

Right we're back ......

..... Ended up with 2 Russain dwarf hamsters :) they are pretty cool and the kids love 'em, job done!!

It's a bit late to say now I know but they might not have been the best choice. I've just done exactly the same. Went out with my daughter and bought 2 Roborovski Dwarf Hamsters. We bought those because a) they're really cute and b) you can have more than one in a cage.

What we didn't know at the time is how flippin' fast they are and how they really don't like being handled. Think we should have gone for a larger, slower syrian hamster.:(

Oh well they only last a couple of years tops and they are very cute.:D

Lol thats our exact worry now mate. We looked at the ones u have, and only picked the russian ones as the kids prefered their colourings. But the girl said they are flippin fast but will happily be handled given A bit of time/care.

The bigger ones were nice, apart from the stumpy tail, but again cant be kept in pairs.

The guinea pig was nice but too big, getting on for rabbit sizes!

Oh well they're here now, kicking back in their cage with every conceivable extra stufed in there!!! Good times

Both my daughters have had hamsters and they have all been really friendly. Not sure what we are doing but apart from one (which the cat got) they have all lived to 3 years of age, must be all the tlc we give them :) Recommend you handle them alot as they then get use to you and wont bite
