jackso11
or something similar to secure them? When changing tired old rubber hoses to shiney black silicone ones, if they don't have anything securing them before will they need a cable tie or anything? michael
Yes, unless you want them to come off of course.
jackso11
so why do the original rubber hoses not have any kid of tieor thing securing them?
mwilkinson
I have cable tied mine. Peace of mind if nothing else.
michael
so why do the original rubber hoses not have any kid of tieor thing securing them? Because they are made from a material that doesn't require such things unless it's under pressure.
mwilkinson
Stock hoses tend to have thicker supported walls which hold the pipe in place. Most aftermarket hoses are quite slippery and lack any form of internal supporting structure. Edit - I'm always too slow to respond.
jackso11
Yeah I thought that might be the case but wanted to ask to make sure. I emailed samco to get some 4mm and 5mm hose with fabric supported walls but they said not on a pipe that small. Better get some cable ties then. Guest sparkso
generally you dont need them on vac hoses, but i would always put one on just to be sure
Scott
Lots of the hoses have the little spring clips on them to hold them in place? Don't you still have them?
Mcgoo
so why do the original rubber hoses not have any kid of tieor thing securing them? I thought they came with spring clips on them from the factory.
Scott
Ed was right, it is getting empty in here, I can hear an echo
Terminator
It really depends on the interior diameter of the hose and the exterior diameter of the barb you are putting them on. All my small bore silicone hoses are pushed on and have no ties, they were all a pig to get on, and very hard to get off. If they slip on easily you will need to clamp them in some way. jackso11
I still have all the original clips, haven't changed any hoses yet. Apart from my BOV rubber hose to a new rubber hose as the last one had a hole in it and had morphed into hard plastic. Magic
Tricky-Ricky
I have never bothered with any form of clamps with silicone hoses, never had any come off, once fitted they tend to be hard to just pull off.
