RedM
I'm ovewhelmed with indifference. Yeah! Like anything is going to change anyway. Do people really think that by voting for a buttock with eyes they are going to get a better life?

michael
I pity him, I can't help thinking we'll look back on him as being acceptable enough in comparison to what's on the way. He wasn't a great "front man" but seemed like a reliable enough bass player who had been forced to sing. He took his party to a close second place yet some absolute cockswipe who came a poor third is calling all the shots all of a sudden despite young Mr Roboto being the next leader of the country. I prefer Hague to be honest. What I haven't grasped yet is what happens to all the spare politicians, if you have a number of them all going after the same job and only one of them gets voted in what happens to all the rest? Do they carry on doing the same job or do they have to go and work in WHSmith for cider money? Seems a bit wasteful to have a shadow this and a shadow that, sack them all, start again but let's have the country run by people who specialise in the areas they are responsible for. People with a proven background, business people with lots of experience... not just David's mate from Eton who he promised a good job in the student bar all those years ago. Or something... I can't help being worried about this, it felt a bit safer before despite mistakes being made... but who is to say that some of those choices weren't the best available at the time and a lesser man might have screwed things up good and proper. Liberal Democrats, no thanks, I hope the Conservative majority is powerful enough to keep them quiet.

Fitz
Yeah! Like anything is going to change anyway. Do people really think that by voting for a buttock with eyes they are going to get a better life? Its true, nothing is going to change, besides he/they can only do certain changes within their own 'power'. Nothing drastic will come of a PM/Parliamentary change. Gaz6002
Yeah! Like anything is going to change anyway. This isn't going to change anything. In another 5 years or so we'll be used to having unelected premiership and leave it there.
RedM
..and if the Con-Dems wheel out that f**king witch Thatcher at any point in the next few weeks I'm going to take up arms and storm the capital myself. Which is a joke BTW just in case some jobsworth f**ktard thinks he can make a name for himself after the the great Doncaster airport Twitter fiasco. Swampy442
I dont claim to know much, if anything about politics but IMO Brown had the shitty end of the global financial crisis stick, and had to deal with all the subsequent fall out. So he rolls out and the next clusterfuck rolls in.
Dave
I dont claim to know much, if anything about politics but IMO Brown had the $#@!ty end of the global financial crisis stick, and had to deal with all the subsequent fall out. So he rolls out and the next cluster$#@! rolls in. it was brown who took away the FSAs control over the banks, allowing them to do whatever they wanted and the banks caused the financial meltdown. hoff
Hardly the triumphant trip to Downing Street that Blair had. Enjoy it. posh boy. You'll not be there long. Indeed. Says a lot I think. Well, at least the Tories influenced some of the best music this country has ever produced imo. If there is to be a silver lining maybe we'll get some good bands out of it:rolleyes:
Terminator
Shame, the older ones here remember what a f*cking mess the tories made last time, even worse now with a hint of gay libs I remember well the day Maggie came to power, a few mates got round a big black board on an election day and we tried to predict the mess there would be in two parliaments. I wish we had photographed it, the real out come was far more extreme after three terms. There are very few politicians who have no other motives, than to serve. I agree with Michael (sorry mate kiss of death), it will be interesting to see how the past few years will be viewed in the future, when that view is separated from the bias of the media and press. To call a Prime minister of any political persuasion a fool, chump pleb, idiot or anything else derogatory says more about the commentators total lack of understanding of the enormities of the position than it does about the legacy of the minister. I cant remember which book it was I read in the early 70's by either Either Robert Hinline's Stranger in Strange Land or Arthur C Clark's Songs of Distant Earth, but gave a totally refreshing view of political selection. In the book anyone who had ever expressed a wish to have political power was automatically barred from entering politics as it was seen that they could not be trusted to act in the interests of society. I can't remember the exact process, but the leaders of the society were nominated by the people before election because they possessed specific attributes that suited them to the position. It may be a naive science fiction dream, but given recent political events, the method does have a certain appeal.
Snooze
I dont claim to know much, if anything about politics but IMO Brown had the shitty end of the global financial crisis stick, and had to deal with all the subsequent fall out. Unfortunately, I strongly believe we are far from the worst of the global financial crisis. There is a LOT worse to come. I think Cameron screwed either way.: - If he doesn't do enough to try and avoid a complete economic calamity, he's going to cop the blame. - If he does do enough (huge cost cuts and massive tax hikes are needed - and sooner rather than later) he's going to be battling against a revolution that will rival the current situation in Greece. I think this situation is completely in the hands of the media. They'll make what they will of it, and if the public decide to jump on the bandwagon (which they will, because independent brains are frowned upon now) we'll see a massive era of social unrest and political war. Anyway, I'm off to make Swiss Roll.
