Warning light after speed converter fitting.

I fitted a speedo converter today, once I get to a speed of around 50-60, the red warning light in the rev counter came on and wont go out. I am guessing its because the ECU is registering a difference in speeds between the speedo and rest of car.

I am not sure what make it is as Paul bought it and posted it to me as the car didn't have one when I bought it.

The car has an Apexi FC ECU so isn't speed limited and the thing I fitted was just a speed converter not a delimiter.

I don't want the light to be constantly illuminated though, I only want it to illuminate when it reads another input, for example knock.

Is there something I can do to prevent the ECU switching the light on...?

You need to keep your ECU and power steering etc. connected to the speed sensor on the gearbox while intercepting the connecion to the speedo (and maybe odometer / cruise). On my car an extra wire has been added between the speed converter 1:1 output and the ECU as it's quite difficult to split the various connections on the pink wire.

Note, you will not remove the speed limit by using a 1:1 output or direct connection to the speed sensor. For that you will need a speed delimiter or a combined converter / delimiter.

For a guide to fitting the Thor converter, see here.

Where can I tap a 1:1 feed from...? The pink wire on my ECU at current doesn't connect to anything.

Do a search for threads started by me. One a few weeks ago showed a wiring diagram with wires I cut and joined. Power steering now works properly and no warning light
