bradleyh_15
as the title says im looking for a photo printer with high quality prints and that does not have to be attached to a pc! this is only going to be used to print pictures as it is costing my girlfriend an arm and a leg going to boots all the time and arguing with the cashier about rights to the pictures! so any recommendations especially with links will be much appreciated! tooley
the thing you need to look at mostly is the cost of the toners for any printer. theres so many good printers out there but the cost of the toners afterwards can outweigh the cost of the printer itself and yes i know you can refill cartridges but its still not cheap..... Wez
Epson photo printers are pretty good but dont be under the illusion that its cheaper to print at home, it isnt There are lots of places that do printing apart from boots, jessops and a few online places. caseys
Epson photo printers are pretty good but dont be under the illusion that its cheaper to print at home, it isnt I agree. Paper, ink + unit definitely do not outweigh the costs the big boys can print you things for There are lots of places that do printing apart from boots, jessops and a few online places. Online +1... http://www.snapfish.co.uk I've found are pretty good. Or y'know, you can send me the photos and I can get them printed (at up to A0 actually...) from a friend that owns a print shop. Max Headroom
If you do buy a printer steer clear of HP, printer is good its just the embedded software that mucks up your computer, Online, found photobox to be very good

Lbm
Just bought a Canon MP640 - So far, very good. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-PIXMA-Network-Premium-Printer/dp/B002LVUKLU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1273599136&sr=1-1 As Caseys says though on-line proceesing may be better value though, if it's lot of pics etc... Scott
I'm a member of photobox.com. Award winning photo printer type place. Prints are 10p each.... FAR cheaper than printing yourself or going to Asda. When I signed up I got 100 free prints. I paid £1.75 and had 99 photos delivered within 24 hours (0-99 is 1.75, 100 - 199 is £2.75 or so). Couldn't have asked for anything better. They also do a range of prints and products etc that look good but seem a little expensive. All your photos can be uploaded in full quality too. I have 150 4mb files on there just now. Guest ugp
I print about 400+ photos a week on an Epson R1400 with a CIS system. The ink tanks cost about 12 quid to fill, and last me a month. Much cheaper than ink cartidges or online photo printing companies. Just use a quality paper (preferably with an icc profile)

Ok, what I would advise is to still buy genuine Canon inks. It may be cheaper to buy 3rd party compatible ink cartridges, but I've watched 3 of my previous printers not last very long, so avoid. I guess this statement makes me look kind of stupid. IMHO the best place at the moment to get genuine Canon Ink is from Amazon.co.uk...This is a lot cheaper than in the shops. Once again, I do not recommend 3rd party inks or refills.
Scott
What do you mean by rights?
Lbm
What do you mean by rights? Could it be the Photographer's, who took the shots?
Scott
If he has the digital shots surely that won't come into it? I can't see any way of blocking a digital image other than with an unsightly watermark. Even at that, you could still print them in ASDA.
