dcarrter21
running bpu TT with w58 + n/a diff. all gears apart from 1st are fine and boost is perfect. i only seem to reach .4/.5 bar in 1st, is this because of the differnt gear ratios you get with the n/a running gear? want more boost in 1st!! JODY T
reckon ist load dependant mate, the the gears over so quick the turbos dont have time to boost.. I dont get full boost on mine in first.. Also if you floor it and the wheels spin like they do the load decreases as its lost traction
dcarrter21
i wreckon its the load thing aswell but it just feels so flat in first then second comes on full boost BANG! need another diff bush! + gearbox soon!

Chris Wilson
Yes, it's engine load dependent, the gear ratio allows fast acceleration without really loading the engine up. Put a tow bar on it and try pulling a 22 foot caravan up a steep hill in first and it'll make a lot more boost.

dcarrter21
so basicly im never going to get more boost in first. i guess id have to change the diff/gearbox.
Chris Wilson
I had one here the other day, no problem with that, they probably make a decent tow car, little rear overhang, RWD, powerful, heavy and with well located rear suspension to inhibit rear steer. Suprab1
I didn't think it would be possible to get one for the supra. It would look funny though a supra with a caravan behind it

Chris Wilson
I have had at least three MKIV's with tow bars through here, not THAT unusual. I think Toyota, like BMW with the early M5's thought towing may give diff or gearbox issues, done without sympathy.
Suprab1
Ah well there is another supra lesson for me For the OP, I gave my BPU supra some beans today & seen .8 bar in first gear.
Alex
so basicly im never going to get more boost in first. i guess id have to change the diff/gearbox. Whythe ? It's not broken, it's all working normally, it's still in all likelyhood on the limit of adhesion... You can't add load without increasing weight or changing first to being incredibly long like a 2speed drag box.
