What has happened to insurance?

I checked on confuseddotcom about a month ago and for a UK TT 6spd I was getting quotes of about £1200. I've just checked and my cheapest quote is now £2300.

I'm 21, got 4 years no claims and live in a good area.

Which companies are you guys with and what kind of quotes are you getting?

Thanks in advance..

Josh ;)

Don't get me started on insurance! I've just found out that I was charged 37.7% APR last year for paying monthly! That worked out around £750, but I think it was mis-sold. Will be checking into it tomorrow.

But I do know premiums are on the up, going to get my renewal for the NA tomorrow so fingers crossed!

i got a quote of over £900 from one of the companys mentioned above. Adrian Flux beat that and got me down to £780 iirc.

Then i called livingstones after some advice and im now paying £430 including guaranteed value. i am once again a happy chappy :D :D :D

How old are you and how much NCB?

im 30 (in a few days) with 7 or 8 years ncb. but im in a high crime rate area. still a cracking deal to be honest. well worth giving them a call... livingstone warman on google i think....

Ah cool, thanks for the advice.

I may speak to them but to be fair I need a new job before I can think about buying a Supra. At the moment I'm having to park on the road and I really don't want to have to do that, plus I need to save money first.

p.s. happy birthday for a few days time! :D

APR is different to what interest you would have paid on the direct debit.

usually between 10-14% is the intrest rate. APR is a seperate thing

as for confused, i had a quote before, 850. but they had it as a 1800cc Supra

make sure you have all the details correct, when you get to the insurers website not confused

The interest rate is 14%, yes. But they never said anything about the APR when I took out the policy/credit agreement. My own fault for not checking I suppose. I'll be contacting the financial ombudsman tomorrow to see if I have any grounds for recourse though.

If I had known this at the time, I would have just paid it outright!

the APR wont effect your payments tho,

example, lest say a premium is 1000.

you pay 200 deposit, then the remaining 800 goes on DD.

you have 800 + 14%.

not 800 + 37.7%

wouldt worry about it

Try telling the credit company that!

My premium was roughly 1,150.

Deposit of 200 brings it to 950.

Monthly instalments of 150 thereabouts.

Total paid back just over 1,800!

These are rough numbers as I can't be bothered to find a calculator, but paid back over 12 payments I think. Either that or they have completely cocked up and I've overpaid :(
