eBay - cancelling auction early?

Hi all,

I'm selling a car on eBay at the moment and I might have a private offer from someone outside of eBay. He stays only 8 miles from my house and is available to come view and maybe pay ASAP.

Thing is there's 3 more days to the auction and also there's one bidder (his bid is just spot on after the reserve price). I've put a notice that I reserve to cancel auction early. I've been told that I could be reported if I do so?

Anyone have any ideas of this?

Whats the worst they can do? I have ended early before when made a good offer with bids already on. If this guy comes round and pays you just end it and say something was broken as your reason.

Well I won't mention any names but I've got a Ebay message saying that I will be reported for fraudulent (sp?) and unhonest trading and have a strike on my account?

As long as you've put a disclaimer (saying you may end the the auction early as it's advertised elsewhere or something along those lines) it shouldn't be aproblem. Don't worry about the message. If you do want to confirm anyting to be on the safe side just contact Ebay or there should be something in the selling rules bit.
