Talk to me about 2jzgte tuning

At the moment I have a 2jzgte engine with 6 speed box fitted to a jzx100 chaser, running hks t51r turbo kit, hks cams, tommie fuel pump, tommie fuel pressure regulator, intercooler, oil cooler, koyo rad. All the spec was done in japan,

Cars making 453bhp @ 1 bar

What I want to know is can I have the stock ecu mapped? or do I need to go for a power fc what are my options, because at the moment the car has a stock ecu and some wires comming off the stock ecu going in a small plastic box which I believe might be some sort of jap ecu chip (will take some pics). I dont think any one might be able to map this.

also have attached a dyno graph- advice welcome and appreciated as Im new to 2jz tuning and dont know the do's, don'ts and where to start.

Many thanks

The stock ECU needs replacing with a standalone ECU and properly mapping. I can't believe it's been run on a dyno with the stock ECU, were they monitoring the air fuel ratios, it could have quite easily gone :bang:? It really need taking to a 2JZ specialist and sorting out, don't drive it until it is.

just checked injectors are grey so they are stock, how many posts do i need to place a post in the wanted section i need some 800cc injectors and a suitable ecu can some one post an add for me?

You need to take a step back mate, get the car to a Supra 2jz specialist and get them to check the car and the spec over for you, it may have other issues than just needing injectors and an ECU

The HKS T51 is a very expensive kit and it is a surprise that it is fitted to a car with such poor thought, does the car have any additional injectors in the intake pipe as this is sometimes a crude method of adding fuel

I am amazed a garage dyno'd the car in this condition, the AFR's must have been shocking

You need to be a full member to post in the classifieds section and access other sections. See HERE

I would go with 1000cc injectors, the T51 kit you have fitted is good for 800+hp, but needs the fueling and ECU sorting out before being started/driven.

Any pics of the engine bay you can post?

was your dyno a straight power run?? or was diagnostic equipment attached?

many on here like to scaremonger the new owner with tiny tales about how you can and cant do things..

the hadware is nice.. but the setup is not ideal... fact is it wont go pop the instant you put you foot down.

get the motor checked for AFR and knock at critical points...

if all is well then upgrade as and when you feel necessary...

if all is not well then certainly think about upgrading parts to suit the level of tune your at.

What a 2JZ with a T51 on stock 440cc injectors and stock ECU at 1bar is safe?

It's not scaremongering, it's advice that will stop the engine from going pop.

Worst advice ever....fact is there are idiots like this that tell you it's completely fine to run a t51 with no supporting mods whatsoever....ignore them and get it to a specialist as soon as you can :)

Scaremongering !, that is very dissapointing as I am far from trying to ruin this guys day with bad news but the truth of it is he does not really understand the complexities of a single build and the supporting mods required, it would be very wrong IMO to advise the chap to add mods when necessary and not to get a fuel management system NOW

The spec is unknown but needs to be checked, I hope I am wrong and it looks OK but I fear the damage may have already started on the engine

I have lost an engine on a dyno due to poor set up and mapping so I do have a little experience and know that I good advise is vital at the start of your single ownership

I know of an MR2 that came over to the UK with a Farina Racing ECU - it was always a bit of an unknown but it put out much healthier dyno numbers that cars with similar mods and a standard ECU.

Probably best to get more diagnositics done as has already been recommended, if not to just protect the engine then to optimise what you have and make the most of the turbo with a few extra mods.
