Auto box oddness?

Not sure if this is usual behavior or not but I sometimes find that when I go from P to D the car takes a good few seconds befor going in gear and that it gives a little jerk when it does. Also happens sometimes when I come to a stop without taking it out of D and then go to pull away again.

Is this something typical of Supra Autos?

Have you checked your gearbox fluid? It may be old, low, missing!

If that's the transmition fuild you mean then its still a nice red colour and covering the cold marker on the dip stick.

I take it you checked it with the engine running?

No but will do later. Didn't realise that there could be an issue with it warm if it was there cold. Cheers

You might get a slight clunk with it going into gear but it shouldn't take a good few seconds!

 

How are the gear changes like when the gearbox is cold?

 

Also what sort of mileage has the car done?

If its on the cold line with the engine off then its gonna be off the stick with the engine on. You should always check the level of auto box with the engine on and the box in P, doesnt matter if its hot or cold

Yep with the engine on it was not even getting on the stick. Goes to the garage monday I'll get them to top it up at the same time. Abz the gear changes while driving have always felt smooth. Only seemed to be when going from stationary.
