tbourner
Anyone on here good with making stuff out of metal type things? I need a double dog crate for the Delica, something a bit like this: http://www.barjo.co.uk/products/vehicle-kennels/barjo-vehicle-kennel-range/light-van-heavy-duty-double-kennel-vk6xd But it seems very expensive and I'm not sure of what I'm getting for my money. Could I make it cheaper? How much would it cost to get someone to weld something similar (basically a mesh/bar metal box 110cm x 100cm and 85cm high, with a divider and 4 doors)? Issues with strength and stuff or would it be OK?

Purity14
Quicker easier and cheaper to use sheet metal, you could cut a circular window out afterwards and put some nice edging on it so they dont cut themselves. ...it could also be used in the bedroom http://qpdx.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/glory-hole.jpg

Can you give you his number if you want http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=2719340&postcount=76 I'm getting a quote from someone, but he wants precise measurements and a diagram and stuff whereas I was just hoping for a rough price - like is it going to be £100 or £1000. Well this one is an ex police one: http://www.expolicecar.co.uk/images/dog_vans/dog_cages_1.png But we want it mesh or bars so the dogs can see out and see out the windows in the car, plus we need to be able to look through the windows and see what they're up to easily. Ben should be able to give the rough price idea I would have thought.

JustGav
Is he a local? Company or just does it for fun? I'm gonna do a rough sketch to send out for quotes I think, has he got an email? He is Basingstoke (well little village just outside), he owns his own carpentary/works company, and no he doesn't have email, he just about uses a mobile phone BUT if you speak to him via mobile and either send him a pic on the phone or email it over to me I can print out and give it to him. I'll PM the details. Gav
peter richards
not sure of price trev but see if you can get some stainless bar , then cleaning it will be easy , otherwise rust might be a factor .

Paul
We've got one of these: http://www.safedog.co.uk/ Pricey but superbly made and gives the dog a better chance if your car is in an accident. Good engineering solution to the fact that the dog is travelling in a crumple zone

Paul
http://www.safedog.co.uk/used.htm That's still not a bad option... Exactly, the couple that import thse are really nice and own dogs themselves. They will always do a good deal on new or used BTW, I've no connection to them or the company but appreciate a good product that's well made. After all you wouldn't put your kid in a homemade child seat and expect it to perform well in a crash and to me my dog is just as important
